Our best NHL player props for Tuesday, December 16
Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.
Prop #1: Connor McDavid Over 1.5 points
Connor McDavid is having another electrifying campaign for the Edmonton Oilers, who are looking to finally reach the Promised Land after two years of falling short. The three-time Hart Trophy winner has 52 points already, scoring 18 times and tallying 34 assists.
The superstar is on absolute fire, with already 16 points in December. McDavid has cashed the Over in points in five of his last six appearances, putting up 3+ in three of those outings.
While McDavid only had one point last time out against the Montreal Canadiens, he scored twice and had a helper the night before against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He’ll face the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight, and McDavid compiled three assists in two meetings with them in 2024-25.

Prop #2: Nathan MacKinnon anytime goal
Nathan MacKinnon is leading the NHL in numerous categories, and he’s emerged as the early frontrunner to win the Hart Trophy. He’s top dog in goals, netting 26 already, while also sitting first in points with 55. The Avs star is doing it all offensively.
MacKinnon has four goals in his last five appearances, and he’s scored in back-to-back games. Overall, he already has six goals in December to go along with five helpers. Colorado is visiting the Seattle Kraken tonight, and the veteran has 12 goals in 17 road outings.

Prop #3: Martin Necas Over 0.5 assists
We’ll stick with the Avalanche for my last pick. Martin Necas has been a wonderful addition to this roster after being acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes last season. The 26-year-old has scored 11 goals and provided 17 assists in the 2025-26 season.
Necas has been setting up goals left, right, and center this month, already tallying nine helpers in December, cashing the Over in five of his last six outings. Saturday, he failed to register a helper, but he had four assists between the two games before that.
Necas has 13 helpers in 16 road contests this season, and he put up two assists in two matchups with the Kraken last season.
