Our best NHL player props for Sunday, December 21

Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.

Prop #1: Sidney Crosby Over 0.5 goals

+165 at BET99

At 38 years old, Sidney Crosby remains one of the best forwards in hockey. He is tied for ninth in the league in goals and looks to keep that success going Sunday as the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Montreal Canadiens.

Montreal has struggled defensively this season, ranking in the bottom half of the league in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). Backing up this poor blue line is goaltender Jakub Dobes, who is projected to start Sunday.

Dobes has been inconsistent behind this defense, posting a modest .893 SV% through 19 appearances.

Prop #2: Pavel Dorofeyev Over 0.5 goals

+165 at BET99

Later in the evening, the Edmonton Oilers host the Vegas Golden Knights in Sunday’s nightcap. Edmonton’s goaltending woes have reached new heights as newly-acquired Tristan Jarry is currently away from the team with a lower-body injury.

With the Oilers also on the second half of a back-to-back, they are forced to recall Connor Ingram from the AHL. Ingram has played poorly in the AHL, and there is little reason to believe he will turn it around against one of the best teams at the higher level.

Through 11 appearances with the Bakersfield Condors, Ingram is 4-5-2 with a fade-worthy .856 SV% and 4.04 GAA.

Meanwhile, Vegas forward Pavel Dorofeyev enters this contest in good form with three goals over his past five games.

Prop #3: Mark Stone Over 0.5 goals

+230 at BET99

Sticking with the same game, Mark Stone is another Vegas forward to consider backing. Like Dorofeyev, Stone enters this matchup in good form with three goals over his past four games.

It is likely that the Knights score often in this game, not only because of Ingram but also due to Edmonton’s poor defensive play. This season, the Oilers rank 28th in xGA/60.

Subsequently, they also rank 29th in goals allowed per game. The recalling of Ingram is unlikely to reverse these trends.
