There are five games on the ice to kick-start the weekend, and I’ve got a trio of NHL player props to complement the action this Friday, January 16.

My top NHL picks begin with Red Wings veteran James van Riemsdyk in a soft matchup against the Sharks, and wrap up with Ducks emerging star Cutter Gauthier in the nightcap against the Kings.

Our best NHL player props for Friday, January 16

Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.

Prop #1: James van Riemsdyk Over 0.5 points

+100 at BET99

This is a soft matchup for the Detroit Red Wings offense. The San Jose Sharks have surrendered the third-most goals per game, fourth-most expected goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5, and rank 24th in penalty-kill percentage.

James van Riemsdyk has picked up a point in four of his past five games and is skating alongside Dylan Larkin on the top line and No. 1 power-play unit. The duo have been on the ice for a monster 9.13 goals and 9.62 expected goals per 60 minutes this season, too.

Prop #2: Darren Raddysh Over 2.5 shots on goal

+130 at BET99

Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Darren Raddysh has recorded three or more shots in nine of his past 14 games, as he’s stepped into the No. 1 role on the blue line with Victor Hedman (elbow) out of action.

Additionally, Raddysh ranks fifth in shots per 60 minutes among defensemen during the stretch, and the St. Louis Blues have allowed the fourth-most shots per game to opposing defensemen while ranking 28th in Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5.

Prop #3: Cutter Gauthier Over 2.5 shots on goal

-125 at BET99

Anaheim Ducks winger Cutter Gauthier has recorded three or more shots in seven of his past eight games to climb to 29 of 45 for the campaign.

He’s regularly been trading with a 3.5 total in this market, too, so the tough matchup against the Los Angeles Kings has been accounted for.

I also value Gauthier pacing the NHL in attempts while also ranking third in shots per 60 minutes for the campaign.
