The Edmonton Oilers are road favorites over the Anaheim Ducks ahead of their 10 p.m. ET puck drop at the Honda Center on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
My favorite Oilers vs. Ducks predictions and NHL picks expect Edmonton goalie Devon Levi to show off in winning fashion tonight.
TOP PICK
Oilers vs Ducks prediction: Oilers moneyline
The Edmonton Oilers have superior underlying numbers at five-on-five, and I’m a believer in goaltender Devon Levi, so I’d recommend the Oil moneyline to 58%.
Levi stopped 19 of 20 shots with 0.68 goals saved above expected in his latest start, and Edmonton sports a rock-solid 55.7 Corsi For percentage and 55.1 expected goals percentage at 5-on-5 (advanced stats courtesy of NaturalStatTrick).
The Anaheim Ducks are 29th in CF% and 23rd in xGF% to start the year at 5-on-5, and their eighth-ranked 105.6 PDO is set to freefall.
In particular, Ducks starting goalie Lukas Dostal’s .918 save percentage is way above the .897 mark he posted over the past three seasons.

Oilers vs Ducks combo
Edmonton has allowed the fourth-fewest expected goals per 60 minutes, so Levi only needs to hover around league-average play to do his part in keeping this total Under the number. And, while Dostal’s start is unsustainable long term, it’s also hard to argue with him turning away 3.0 goals above expected through two games.
Oilers winger Vasily Podkolzin has also caught fire in a top-line role with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and the Russian winger has found the scoresheet in three straight games to start the year. The trio have been on the ice for an eye-popping 5.9 expected goals per 60 minutes, too.
Oilers vs Ducks combo
- Oilers moneyline
- Under 6.5
- Vasily Podkolzin 1+ points
Oilers vs Ducks player prop: Jackson LaCombe 1+ points - No
This is a tough matchup for Ducks defenseman Jackson LaCombe, and I’d recommend him to miss the scoresheet to 53%.
LaCombe has been playing tough minutes against top opponents and sports a concerning 38.0 CF% and 33.9 xGF% at 5-on-5 while also lining up for 39.5% of his faceoffs in the defensive zone.
Oilers vs Ducks goal scorer: Leon Draisaitl
With the Oilers loading up their No. 1 line with Draisaitl and McDavid, I'm happy to back No. 29 finding the back of the net to 55%. Draisaitl has already scored three times through three games with a solid underlying 1.99 individual expected goals and six high-danger scoring chances.
Plus, the duo have been on the ice for an elite 7.76 goals and 6.62 expected goals per 60 minutes dating back to the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.
