Following an 0-5 SU homestand that pretty much ended the Seattle Kraken’s playoff hopes, the 12th-place team heads to Sin City to take on the Vegas Golden Knights who aren’t guaranteed a playoff spot themselves but enter tonight as a decent -190 favorite with a total of 6.
With neither team receiving good goaltending of late and Seattle playing the first game after the realization that the playoffs are not in its future this year, could this be the highest-scoring game on the slate with a total of 6?

Kraken vs Golden Knights predictions
The Seatle Kraken just wrapped up a five-game homestand that saw them go 0-5 SU which all but eliminated the team from playoff contention. This is a Seattle team that has been giving up goals in bunches with 20 allowed over the losing streak and the team seems deflated.
"Just extremely frustrated, obviously, with the time of the year and where we're at," Forward Jordan Eberle said. "Confidence goes a long ways in this league. When you're feeling confident as a team, you create more, you hold on to pucks a little longer, and you do more. We don't really have that right now. We need to find that."
No opponent is easy in the NHL, but the Vegas Golden Knights might just have an easier matchup tonight which has me reaching for their team total Over 3.5 at +100 thanks to a low total of 6.
The Vegas power play has been non-existent of late but at 5-on-5, which is more predictable, this is a Top-5 offense over the last 10 games at 3.4 even-strength goals per game. If the PP gets going, this could be an easy Over. Seattle has given up a power-play goal in four of its last five games and takes penalties at an above-average rate which should create hopefully three-plus PP opportunities for the home side.
Another thing that could keep the Vegas offense scoring is their goaltending. Logan Thompson will get the start as Adin Hill has a 3.88 GAA over his last 14 games, but Thompson hasn’t been much better. The backup goalie has a 3.65 GAA with a .879 save percentage over his last seven games where the Over is 5-2.
Speaking of goaltending, Seattle has not announced a starter at the time of writing but Joey Daccord was pulled in his last start while Philipp Grubauer has allowed at least three goals in three straight starts.
Facing a dejected opponent with nearly nothing to play for except possibly a night in the city and goalie issues on both sides, Vegas should flirt with four-plus goals tonight and thanks to a low total of 6, that is giving more value to their team total Over.
My best bet: Golden Knights team total Over 3.5 (+100 at bet365)
Kraken vs Golden Knights same-game parlay
Jack Eichel and Ivan Barbashev both play on the top line together and the first PP unit. It's a good stack for the price despite Barbashev not putting up a ton of points. Shea Theodore leads all defensemen in assists/60 this year and has a helper in 11 of his last 13 games since returning from injury. He could also see more minutes if Pietrangelo is out again.
Two-way scoring is a big possibility which should keep the top-six engaged offensively for the Knights who have been great at 5-on-5 of late.

Kraken vs Golden Knights moneyline and Over/Under analysis
The Knights have gotten longer in price over the course of the day and that is to be expected when they opened as short as -200, and are struggling defensively, and in net. The Under has surprisingly taken money today and should close at 6 despite who is named the starter in net for Seattle.
Vegas could be without key defenseman Alex Pietrangelo who is dealing with an illness and is questionable. Seattle will be without a key D-man as well as Vince Dunn is on the shelf and Jaden Schwartz is also questionable. Oliver Bjorkstand has been demoted to a bottom-six role and is -120 to go pointless which isn't a bad look.
The Knights have Top-5 offensive metrics at 5-on-5 but their power play is struggling. The offensive lineup isn’t bad and it’s likely just a rut. Seattle has an average PK on the season and takes penalties at a higher rate than most of late.
Vegas is also coming off a third-period collapse vs. Tampa at home which was the third of a five-game homestand. There could be some motivation early vs. Seattle that just went 0-5 SU during a five-game homestand.
I have no interest in Vegas as the -180 to -190 price but do like goals in this matchup.
