The first Sunday of the 2025 NFL season is around the corner, and there are a slew of key injuries to keep an eye on as we enter Week 1.
At the top of that list, we have Christian McCaffrey, who surprisingly popped up on the injury report on Thursday, and Micah Parsons, who was traded to the Packers last week in a blockbuster move.
I break down the five key NFL injuries and how they will impact the NFL odds for Week 1.
Key NFL Week 1 injuries
Micah Parsons (Edge) — Questionable
Christian McCaffrey (RB) — Questionable
L'Jarious Sneed (CB) — Questionable
Will Campbell (LT) — Questionable
Vita Vea (DT) — Questionable
Micah Parsons, Edge — Questionable
The Green Bay Packers pulled off the biggest trade of the offseason by picking up Micah Parsons last week. The star pass rusher has been dealing with a joint sprain in his back and is questionable for Sunday's home tilt against the Detroit Lions.
The Packers are available at -2.5 but are now trading at -102 at FanDuel, so a shift to -2 might be on the horizon. The total opened at 49.5 and moved down to 47 after the Parsons trade was announced. The O/U ticked up to 47.5 when the Parsons injury news surfaced.
According to Adam Schefter, Parsons may have an epidural injection to get him ready before the game. If he ends up playing, expect the Packers' position at -2.5 to strengthen, but it won't move to that key number of -3.
Christian McCaffrey, Running Back — Questionable
It seemed like Christian McCaffrey was going to be healthy entering this year, but his name popped up on the IL on Thursday with a calf injury.
McCaffrey was a non-participant in practice and has been officially listed as questionable for Sunday. The San Francisco 49ers running back has had a tough time staying on the field in his career.
The line hasn't changed with the news, with the 49ers still installed as 1.5-point road favorites against the Seattle Seahawks. However, the total has dropped from 45.5 to 43.5.
L'Jarious Sneed, Cornerback — Questionable
L'Jarious Sneed missed the final 12 games last year for the Tennessee Titans, dealing with a quadriceps injury that put him on injured reserve.
The Pro Bowl cornerback was activated from the PUP list on August 20, and while he's listed as questionable, he's expected to play with limited snaps on Sunday.
Tennessee is currently listed as an 8.5-point road underdog against the Denver Broncos after opening at +7.5. The total has shifted to 42.5, up from the opening 41.5.
Will Campbell, Left Tackle — Questionable
The New England Patriots drafted Will Campbell with the fourth pick in the draft in an effort to protect the blindside of franchise quarterback Drake Maye. The left tackle is listed as questionable but is trending toward playing.
New England opened as 3-point home favorites against the Las Vegas Raiders. That spread has slimmed to -2.5, with the O/U ticking up from 42.5 to 44.
Whether or not Campbell plays likely won't move the line much, but it will be pivotal to the success of New England's offense.
Vita Vea, Defensive Tackle — Questionable
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea has been unable to practice all week due to a foot injury. He's listed as questionable but is still expected to suit up.
Vea remains an intriguing X-factor in handicapping this game, as interior linemen rarely move the odds. His absence would be a major blow for the Bucs, especially against an Atlanta Falcons team that loves to run the ball with Bijan Robinson.
The Bucs have moved from -2.5 favorites to -1.5 while the total has ticked down from 48.5 to 47.
