Three weeks deep into the NFL season, and we’ve got more information around depth charts and trends, which will help lead us to finding First Touchdown scores.
Here, we’re going through our three favorite first TD scorer picks on Sunday, September 21.
Here are my best three NFL picks, as part of our weekly NFL TD props.
Best Week 3 first TD scorer props
Thomas (+850)
Renfrow (+2000)
Johnson (+1500)
TD prop #1: Brian Thomas Jr. first TD scorer
Ask anyone who has Brian Thomas Jr. on their fantasy football team, and they’ll tell you he hasn’t had a good season. Certainly, some of the tape from this past weekend, showing the wideout taking ‘business decisions’ on cross-field routes, was a concern. However, while 60 receiving yards is well below what we’d expect of him so far this season, he’s had 19 targets across those two games.
The good news is that the team wants to get the ball into his hands.
"It’s huge to get him on the right track… we want to get the most out of him and keep having his back," Jacksonville Jaguars’ HC Liam Coen said this week.
Realistically, you have to read this as the Jaguars looking to feed their star man and get him back on track against the 0-2 Houston Texans.
TD prop #2: Hunter Renfrow first TD scorer
The Carolina Panthers are 0-2 and drafted Tetairoa McMillan in April, so it’s no surprise that there hasn’t been a lot of talk around Hunter Renfrow. However, the veteran has had a very strong start to the season, already catching seven passes for two touchdowns and developing real chemistry with QB Bryce Young.
The former Clemson WR is tied for the second-most red-zone targets amongst wide receivers, level with Davante Adams and behind only Amon-Ra St. Brown.
He’s been a target machine inside the 20, and we can only expect that to continue as he further develops his connection with Young.
TD prop #3: Juwan Johnson first TD scorer
Through two games, Juwan Johnson has been a volume monster for New Orleans Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler. He’s had 20 targets across two games, hauling in 13. Three of those targets came in the red zone, and it’s no surprise that he’s already got a touchdown.
It’s still early, but no team has given up more touchdowns to tight ends than the Seattle Seahawks, who allowed both George Kittle and Jake Tonges to score. Johnson is a big-time player for the Saints and is tied for the most targets inside the 20 on the team.
