It’s been a while since the Philadelphia Eagles felt the sting of a losing skid. In fact, Philly hasn’t lost two in a row since the end of the 2023 season.

The Eagles back into this Week 7 road game vs. the Minnesota Vikings on a two-game stumble, but they've enjoyed a mini bye to tighten the bolts after getting upset by the rival Giants on Thursday.

My early Eagles vs. Vikings predictions and NFL picks expect that break to do wonders for Minnesota in this October 19 matchup.

Eagles vs Vikings predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Eagles vs Vikings spread pick: Vikings +2.5

Are the Minnesota Vikings being transparent, or are the questions around the starting QB for Week 7 just a bit of gamesmanship from Minnesota?

The Vikes are stuck between veteran QB (and former Eagle) Carson Wentz and injured QB1 J.J. McCarthy, who says his ankle is still not 100% after the extra rest.

McCarthy’s mobility against the Philadelphia pass rush would be very valuable — similar to what we saw from New York rookie Jaxson Dart last week.

I’m leaning toward gamesmanship from Kevin O’Connell, as he tries to gain any edge possible vs. the defending Super Bowl champs. McCarthy isn’t the only potential returnee on offense, with three OLs trying to suit up in Week 7.

Philadelphia’s offense is also in question — not due to injury but overall effectiveness. The Eagles have scored only 17 points in each of their two losses, dropping to 20th in EPA per play. Players are pointing the finger at predictable playcalling from OC Kevin Patullo.

Philly keeps finding itself in tight games, and this Vikings defense isn’t a “get right” opponent for the Eagles' offensive woes. I’ll lean toward the points with the home team, but with the movement in vig, I'd wait and see if Vikings +3 comes up later in the week.

Early Eagles vs Vikings total pick: Under 42.5

While the offense may be a lost cause, the Philadelphia defense has a lot to prove after getting embarrassed on prime time last Thursday.

Getting Jalen Carter back on the defensive line would be a big step toward erasing that TNF blunder. He missed the mid-week game, and we’ve seen this stop unit struggle without him creating chaos up front.

Minnesota’s defense is among the most disruptive in the league, with Brian Flores dialing up the blitz at the second-highest rate. That’s produced the second-best pressure rate, a Top 10 pass rush win rate, and the No. 1 EPA allowed per dropback rating.

I’m leaning Under the total of 42.5 points in Week 7.
