The Chicago Bears have won seven of their eight games by one-possession results and have sent out one of the worst statistical defenses in the NFL.
A road date with the Philadelphia Eagles on a short week sets up to expose a fraudulent Chicago defense ranking 25th in defensive DVOA while allowing the sixth-most points per game and third-most yards per play.
Chicago has also benefited from pacing the NFL in takeaways (24), while Philadelphia has turned the ball over the fewest times in the league (six).
Of course, the Eagles have also been money at Lincoln Financial Field winning 15 of their past 16 and covering the number in nine of the past 12.
There’s also a huge disparity in the strength of schedule these two teams have faced, which also has my attention.
Philly has faced the fourth-hardest slate per PFF and third by DVOA, while Chicago has gone up against the third- and second-easiest schedules, respectively.
I’m also anticipating a statement bounce back from the Eagles on both sides of the ball after allowing 24 unanswered to the Dallas Cowboys to lose in Week 12, and in particular on defense.
The defending champs rank top 10 in PFF defense grade, defensive DVOA and EPA per play while allowing the eighth-fewest points per game, after all.

I’m anticipating Philly exposing the Chicago defense, and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts stuffing his stat line.
On top of all the highlighted defensive shortcomings, the Bears are also tied for the third-most passing touchdowns allowed to opposing quarterbacks (22) while allowing QBs to run for a league-high 6.74 yards per carry.
This is also a spot where I’m not anticipating Philly taking its foot off the gas after the noted blown lead in Week 12.

This spread is holding firm at Eagles -7, but there are shops sitting at -7.5 as of Thursday afternoon, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the number closed above the key number of 7. This is also a potential teaser leg for both teams, with a six-point tease moving the line through multiple key numbers. I obviously prefer dropping Philly to -1.

In addition to the highlighted season-long numbers for the Philly defense, the Eagles also just held the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions to single-digits before the noted defensive hiccup to the Cowboys on Sunday. I’m also expecting Bears QB Caleb Williams to struggle. He’s completed just 59.2% of his pass attempts to go along with ranking 19th in adjusted EPA per play and 25th in success rate. It all adds up to this game going Under the number.
