Oddsmakers are expecting 2026 to be another difficult season in Syracuse.
The Orange went 3-9 in 2025, finishing 1-7 in the ACC while falling 2 1/2 wins short of a 5.5-win total after a nine-win season in 2024. Syracuse has been one of the more volatile programs in this dataset, swinging sharply between Over and Under results, and the market has split the difference between the program's recent highs and lows with the 2026 total.
Here's a look at the recent history of Syracuse win totals, along with predictions on whether the Orange will surpass or fall short of their 2026 number of 4.5:

As far as a power rating, Syracuse is one of the most improved teams in the country. I’ve upgraded them 10.7 points from last year. Quarterback Steve Angeli returns from injury. Last year the offense averaged 38 points per game with him and just 11 points per game without him. With that being said, I only project Syracuse to be favored in four games.

If Syracuse had an easier schedule, there would be a lot of reason to be excited about Year 3 under Fran Brown. However, with a schedule that’s No. 16 in SOS (.597) and QB Steve Angeli coming off a torn Achilles, it’s hard to see Syracuse approaching bowl eligibility, especially with a transfer portal class ranked outside of the top 50.
While the defense should improve with Vince Kehres taking over as coordinator and the cornerback tandem of Chris Peal and Demetres Samuel Jr. back, the offense desperately needs true freshman Calvin Russell III and transfer Ahmad Miller (Jackson State) to be difference makers off the bat. If they’re not, it could be another 3-9 season for Brown.

I think snagging the Orange at U4.5 is a great number.
Their defense is still trying to recover after being one of the worst units in the FBS a season ago. On top of that, they lost both of their leading rushers from last year. They brought in former Notre Dame quarterback Steve Angeli, who tore his Achilles last September, but this roster feels like a collection of new pieces hoping everything clicks.
I think this team is a mess, and I expect it to stay that way throughout the 2026 season.

🔑 Key Takeaways
- A slight Over lean in a thin dataset with large gaps: Syracuse has gone Over its win total four times in eight graded seasons, against three Unders and one push. The dataset covers only eight seasons across a 15-year span, which limits how much weight to put on the overall record.
- Results swing sharply in both directions: Syracuse tends to miss or beat its win total by multiple games rather than landing near the number. Six of the eight graded results came by two or more wins in either direction, making this one of the more volatile programs in the series.
- Three Overs in four graded seasons from 2021-24: After a rough stretch through 2019, Syracuse cleared its win total in 2021, 2022, and 2024, with a push in 2023 the only non-Over result. The 2025 Under broke that run sharply, with the Orange finishing three wins below a 5.5-win total.
How Syracuse win totals are priced
The ACC isn't getting any easier, so it shouldn't surprise many that the Orange have seen their Vegas win total drop for the second consecutive season.
Syracuse dodges Miami and Georgia Tech in 2026, but that's about all the good news Orange fans are getting from a scheduling standpoint. In addition to the usual wrecking crew of opponents (conference champion Duke, Virginia, SMU and Pitt among them), the Orange will also face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in their season finale. Gulp.
If you're looking at the Orange to cash their conference win total Over, you'll need a little faith. The O2.5 is at -120, while the U2.5 is +100; Syracuse went 1-7 in ACC play in 2025.
Syracuse is 5-12 SU and 4-13 ATS after a week off since 2018, the worst such mark among ACC teams over that span.
