After a terrible start, Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels have won two straight and are back in the hunt for making a bowl game. They need to win two of their final three games and it starts on Saturday in Winston-Salem against the 6-3 Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Both defenses have been the strengths of these two teams and will show out again in this ACC clash.

North Carolina vs Wake Forest prediction

North Carolina vs Wake Forest best bet: Under 38.5 (-110 at FanDuel)

The North Carolina Tar Heels looked awful early in the year allowing 48 points to TCU, 34 to UCF, and 38 to Clemson and losing those three games by a combined 87 points.

However, in their other six games combined, they have only allowed 72 points and finished those games with a +70-point differential.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have had a much better season than expected and it has been mostly because of how solid their defense has been thus far.

They rank 30th in the country allowing only 20.3 points per game. They just held 12th-ranked Virginia to only nine points on the road last week.

That was the fifth time this season that Wake Forest had held their opponent below 15 points. North Carolina has had five games this season where the opponent has scored less than 18 points. And neither of these offenses are anything to write home about.

The Tar Heels rank 123rd in the country averaging 19.4 points per game. The Demon Deacons rank 100th averaging 23.3 per contest. This will be a rock fight and will fit what both coaches want.

It is a low total but still worth taking the Under.

North Carolina vs Wake Forest same-game parlay

To add to my best bet, I am going to take UNC to cover the spread since it will be so low scoring. Also adding Demond Claiborne to stay Under his rushing total against a great UNC rushing defense.
