After a big win over Mississippi in Week 9, the newly-minted No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs seek their fourth straight win as they visit the Florida Gators.

Florida begins its post-Billy Napier era coming off a bye with Billy Gonzalez now serving as the interim head coach.

The books have the Gators pegged as 7.5-point underdogs in a game that will be played at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, FL, home of the NFL’s Jaguars.

Georgia vs Florida predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Georgia vs Florida spread pick: Georgia -7.5

This would normally read "trap game" for the Georgia Bulldogs, as they’re coming off an impressive 43-35 shootout win over Mississippi, and take on a team in flux in the Florida Gators.

However, the stakes are too high here for the Bulldogs, as any slipups now can potentially cost them a College Football Playoff berth.

Georgia is currently alone in third in the SEC, part of a four-pack of one-loss teams looking up at undefeated Texas A&M.

The Bulldogs have owned this rivalry with the Gators lately, having won each of the last four. Each win came by at least 12 points. Florida has just one win in the last eight meetings between these teams.

The Gators have not been able to rise to the occasion this season. Save for a win over then-No. 9 Texas (a team with its own set of issues), Florida has lost its other three matchups with ranked teams, all by double digits.

The fact that Georgia is still just a TD favorite in this one is a little shocking, considering Gonzalez inherits a squad that is second-last in the SEC in scoring, while ranking outside the Top 11 in both passing and rushing yards per game.

Early Georgia vs Florida total pick: Under 50.5

We know the Gators are low-scoring, but we also know the Bulldogs bring big-game defense to the table.

Georgia is allowing just 19.6 points per game on the year and are a Top-5 team against the rush, allowing just 91.1 yards per game.

That defense has been lit up this year, but context matters: Georgia has allowed 35+ against both Tennessee and Mississippi, but those teams rank inside the SEC’s Top 4 in scoring.

Against everyone else? The Bulldogs are allowing just 12.2 points per game.

Despite their losing record, Florida has been able to keep thing somewhat respectable, ranking right below Georgia in points allowed at 20 points per game. They have kept four of their last six opponents to 21 points or less, and only one team has cracked the 30-point plateau on them all year.

The Gators have had the Under cash in five of seven games this year. Georgia has kept the score at 50 points or less in four of its last six, with only the high-octane Volunteers and Rebels pushing the total to the Over.

Florida won’t pose that kind of a threat on Saturday.
