VCU and Dayton clash in an A-10 finale with plenty of postseason weight. Jason Logan calls for a busy night on the scoreboard, as both teams can knock it down from outside and cash in at the stripe.

Depending on your prescribed method of “Bracketology”, the VCU Rams are either among the first four in or the first four out when it comes to projecting the Field of 68.

That puts a ton of weight into the Rams’ regular-season finale versus a red-hot Dayton Flyers squad that’s rattled off six straight wins.

These A-10 foes met in a high-scoring contest a month ago, and my VCU vs. Dayton predictions call for another busy night for the scorekeepers.

VCU vs Dayton prediction

VCU vs Dayton best bet: Over 148.5 (-116)

The VCU Rams notched 99 points in that last clash with the Dayton Flyers, fueling that offensive outburst with eight 3-pointers and 24 points off turnovers.

The Rams aren’t shy to let it fly from outside, especially against a Dayton defense that struggles to protect the perimeter.

The Flyers can counter those shortcomings with an offense that’s really clicking at the right time. They’re shooting 49% from the field the past five games, including knocking down an average of 9.2 triples in that stretch.

VCU vs Dayton same-game parlay

Both teams thrive at getting to the foul line and knocking down freebies. They combined for 68 free throw attempts in their first meeting, and both sit Top 28 in percentage of points from foul shots. That’s plenty of points with the clock stopped — a recipe for Overs.

Javon Bennett had a poor shooting effort against VCU last time and enters Senior Night with added motivation. He’s been very active from outside during the Flyers’ streak, attempting seven or more 3-pointers in five of those six wins.

Jadrian Tracy paced the Rams with 26 points in the win over Dayton in February and has scored 11 or more points in seven of the last 10 games. His projections flirt with 13 points tonight.
