The Georgia Southern Eagles will try to upset the Troy Trojans as the two programs battle for an automatic bid in the final of the Sun Belt Championship tonight. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

The Eagles regularly play to big totals, and my Troy vs. Georgia Southern predictions and college basketball picks expect more of the same on Monday, March 9.

Troy vs Georgia Southern prediction

Who will win Troy vs Georgia Southern?

Georgia Southern is the hot team right now, but Troy has been the class of the Sun Belt Conference all season and has won the last four meetings between these teams. While I’m expecting a close game, the Trojans are the pick to walk away with an automatic bid to March Madness.

Troy vs Georgia Southern best bet

Troy vs Georgia Southern best bet: Over 150 (-110)

The Georgia Southern Eagles and Troy Trojans may not be among the most efficient offenses in college basketball, but they both put up points nonetheless. The Eagles are averaging 81.5 points per game on the year, while the Trojans nearly match them at 80.4.

That showed in the first meeting between these teams this season, which ended with 161 points scored.

The Eagles have played to totals well above tonight’s number in each of their last six games, all of which have been wins. With both offenses clicking throughout the Sun Belt Championship, I’m backing the Over again in tonight’s game.

Troy vs Georgia Southern same-game parlay

Along with the Over, I’m also going to take the Eagles to cover in the championship game. While Troy won the regular-season matchup between these teams, it was only a five-point game, and Georgia Southern has covered in each of its last six games overall.

I’ll also take Tyren Moor to score Over 18.5 points, something he’s done in three of his last four games.

Troy vs Georgia Southern SGP

  • Over 150
  • Georgia Southern +6.5
  • Tyren Moore Over 18.5 points

Our beyond the arc SGP: Rockstar Spudd

For my lottery SGP, I’m going to bank on a big game from Georgia Southern guard Spudd Webb, who came up huge in the semifinal win against the Marshall Thundering Herd.

I’m taking Webb to hit Over 1.5 shots from beyond the arc — something he’s done twice in this tournament — and dish out at least three assists after averaging 2.5 per game for the season.

Troy vs Georgia Southern SGP

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
