The New Orleans Pelicans will try to get a win for their interim head coach as they host the surging Golden State Warriors on Sunday.

Both teams have been relatively inefficient offensively this season, and I’m taking the Under in my Warriors vs. Pelicans preview.

Warriors vs Pelicans prediction

Warriors vs Pelicans best bet: Under 228 (-110)

The New Orleans Pelicans are off to a rough start this season, going 2-10 out of the gate before firing head coach Willie Green. New Orleans is hoping that interim head coach James Borrego will be able to spark a turnaround following the team’s current four-game losing streak.

They’ll have a tough time against a Golden State Warriors team that has won three of the last four, including two straight on the road against the San Antonio Spurs. In the three wins — not counting a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, a tall task for any defense — Golden State has given up an average of just 103.7 ppg.

That will make life difficult for a Pelicans team that hasn’t been great at putting the ball in the hoop this season. New Orleans is averaging only 108.4 ppg and shooting 43.7% from the field, both among the worst numbers in the NBA. But it’s not as though the Warriors are an offensive juggernaut anymore, either. Golden State ranks 22nd in offensive efficiency and is putting up 115.1 ppg.

Neither team is designed for shootouts, and both play at a slower pace than the rest of the league. That’s a recipe for a low-scoring game, which is why I’m backing the Under.

Warriors vs Pelicans same-game parlay

The Pelicans have a long way to go before regaining respectability, so I like the Warriors to cover even with a double-digit spread today. I’ll take Stephen Curry to hit his points total as well, as he’s gone for 46 and 49 in his last two games and will continue to be the go-to option for Golden State.

Zion Williamson may be working his way back into the lineup today, but he won’t need to do much to hit his PRA total, as he’s gone Over this combined number in four of his first five games this season.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
