Up two games to none in the Western Conference Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder will look to slam the door on the Minnesota Timberwolves’ title hopes and take a commanding 3-0 lead on Saturday. As Pat Riley used to say, however, “a playoff series doesn’t truly start until the home team loses a game.”
Expect the Timberwolves to come out fired up at home to avoid falling into an insurmountable series deficit. My Thunder vs. Timberwolves props and NBA picks for Saturday, May 24 expect Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle to lead the charge for Minnesota and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to get teammates involved on the road.
Best Thunder vs Timberwolves props
-
Randle Over 18.5 points (-120)
Gilgeous-Alexander Over 6.5 assists (-135)
-
Edwards Over 7.5 rebounds (-120)
Thunder vs Timberwolves player props for May 24
Julius Randle Over 18.5 points (-120 at bet365)
Julius Randle is in the midst of the best scoring run of his playoff career, and fresh off a dud in Game 2, he’s got a great opportunity to bounce back in Game 3 and cash the Over on a modest scoring line.
Over the first 11 games of the postseason, Randle averaged 24.3 points on 52.2% shooting from the field and 39.3% shooting from beyond the arc. In his last game out, he finished with just six points on 2-of-11 shooting, including an 0-of-3 mark from beyond the arc.
Prior to his Game 2 performance, Randle scored at least 19 in five straight and nine of 10. That includes a 28-point, five-triple performance in Game 1 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. I expect him to get back on track at home in this pivotal contest.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 6.5 assists (-135 at bet365)
SGA averaged a career-best 6.4 assists per game this season, and he recorded at least seven in 37 of 76 regular season appearances. He’s been hot as a facilitator in the playoffs, reaching the Over on this line in seven of his last 11.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander handed out nine and eight assists in Games 1 and 2 of this series, respectively, and he’s had great success as a playmaker against the Wolves this season. After handing out only two assists against the Minnesota Timberwolves on December 31, he’s hit the Over on this line in five straight.
Over his last five against the Wolves, SGA has averaged 8.4 assists and handed out at least seven in two straight on the road. Expect another strong outing as a facilitator in Game 3.
Anthony Edwards Over 7.5 rebounds (-120 at bet365)
After averaging 5.7 rebounds per game in the regular season, Anthony Edwards has picked it up on the glass in the playoffs, averaging 8.2 boards across 12 postseason appearances. He’s grabbed at least eight in eight of 12, including nine apiece in Games 1 and 2.
Including his last two playoff games, Edwards has reached the Over on this line in four straight against the Thunder. His 9.2 rebounds per game against Oklahoma City were his most against any opponent this season.
Oklahoma City allowed the 11th-most rebounds per game to opponents in the regular season, but the Thunder have allowed the most rebounds per game in the playoffs. This is a great matchup for Edwards, and I’ll gladly take the Over.
