Some of the best NBA betting value on the player prop market lies in betting on young players who are just starting to find their groove while sportsbooks adjust to what sort of production you can consistently expect from them.

That's where we're looking to make some money tonight as we focus on a pair of rookies and back a second-year guard in a favorable matchup. Here are our best free NBA prop picks for Friday, December 10.

When the Sacramento Kings drafted Tyrese Haliburton last year, they got the ideal player to share ball-handling duties with De'Aaron Fox. Haliburton leads the team with 5.7 assists per game and is coming off an excellent performance against the Magic where he dropped 11 assists while scoring 18 points.

Today, Haliburton and the Kings host the short-handed Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets typically defend well against opposing guards but will be missing two key perimeter defenders in LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier, who are both in the league's health and safety protocols.

With the O/U on Haliburton's points and assists total set at 18.5, a number he has easily surpassed in three consecutive games, take the Over.

Pick: Tyrese Haliburton Over 18.5 points and assists (-120 at Caesar's)

With Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. both out with injuries for the Rockets, someone had to step in and take all those (often ugly) shot attempts they jack up per game. The two youngsters average a combined 24.9 field goal attempts, and when Green joined Porter on the sidelines two weeks ago, Garrison Matthews stepped up as the next man in Houston's pecking order.

We'll forgive you if you don't know who Matthews is since the 25-year-old is an undrafted rookie out of tiny Lipscomb University (undergrad class of less than 3,000) who has been bouncing between the G-League and is now playing for one of the worst teams in the NBA. But if you like making money, get to know Matthews, who has gone Over his points and three-pointers made totals in every game since they started appearing at sportsbooks.

We backed the Over on Matthews' points total last week, which cashed, and his Over/Under for tonight is set at 11.5, a total he has surpassed in seven straight games — ever since Green suffered his injury. Over that span, he has averaged 16.1 ppg on 33.7 mpg.

Tonight, Matthews and the Rockets are hosting the Bucks, and while the defending champs are a solid defensive team, they play at a fast pace and surrender 109 ppg on the road. Keep taking the Over on Matthews' points until books get wise or Green and Porter return to throw up bricks.

Pick: Garrison Matthews Over 11.5 points (-118 at FanDuel)

The Minnesota Timberwolves have one of the best centers in the NBA in Karl-Anthony Towns which, in theory, should make them at least a halfway decent rebounding squad. Instead, they are dead-last in the league in opponent rebounds per game (57.3) while ranking 26th in rebounding rate.

Today, the T-Wolves take on the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have been one of the better teams in the league on the glass. Jarrett Allen leads Cleveland with 11.3 rebounds per game but the O/U on his rebounds total is set at 11.5, a number he has surpassed only four times in his last 12 games. So let's focus on their other big man, Evan Mobley who pulls down 8.2 rpg.

The O/U on Mobley's rebounds total is set at 7.5, and the third pick in the 2021 draft has grabbed at least nine boards in six of his last nine contests. Expect another strong night on the glass from the rook and take the Over.

Pick: Evan Mobley Over 7.5 rebounds (-105 at DraftKings)
