The Detroit Pistons are riding high at the top of the East after eight straight wins, but injury question marks linger ahead of tonight’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, and Ausar Thompson were ruled out of Detroit’s win over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, and my 76ers vs. Pistons predictions point to Tyrese Maxey as the last superstar standing at full health in this matchup.

76ers vs Pistons prediction
76ers vs Pistons best bet: Tyrese Maxey Over 29.5 points (-110)
We seem to be inching towards a world in which the Philadelphia 76ers can put Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey on the court together — but until then, it’s Maxey time.
With VJ Edgecombe now on the injury report, Maxey will once again carry the load for the visitors tonight. Buckle up for a lot of possessions where Maxey has the ball late in the shot clock and has to make something out of nothing.
In truth, it’s been a solid formula for a Philadelphia team that’s fought its way to a 7-4 record. Maxey is averaging 32.1 points per game, and he dropped 33 points on the Detroit Pistons last weekend despite missing 16 of his 26 shots. Look for a similar volume here, particularly with no Ausar Thompson to hound him on the perimeter.
It’s not just Cade Cunningham’s health that Detroit is sweating on. The hosts also have some concerns in the frontcourt, with both Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart listed as questionable, and that could open up lanes for the 76ers to attack the basket.
Maxey is shooting 50% overall on the road this year, with a 34.2 ppg average away from Xfinity Mobile Arena. I expect him to be in attack mode from the jump tonight, and that will keep this Over well within reach.
76ers vs Pistons same-game parlay
Quentin Grimes is another candidate to grab a big share of the Philly shot volume, and he’s heating up from beyond the arc, nailing eight 3-pointers across his last three contests. Despite coming off the bench, he’s averaging 11.4 FGA per game.
Count me as a skeptic when it comes to Andre Drummond as a 3-point shooter. He’s jacked up 12 attempts from downtown this season, making just four of them, and this prop has landed in seven of his 10 outings this year.
76ers vs Pistons SGP
- Tyrese Maxey Over 29.5 points
- Quentin Grimes Over 2.5 threes
- Andre Drummond Under 0.5 threes
Our "from downtown" SGP: Board man gets paid
Despite fading Drummond from distance, I like him as a rebounder in this matchup, and his work on the offensive glass leads to easy buckets.
The veteran center has finished with a double-double in three of his last four games.
76ers vs Pistons SGP
- Tyrese Maxey Over 29.5 points
- Quentin Grimes Over 2.5 threes
- Andre Drummond Under 0.5 threes
- Andre Drummond to record a double-double
