The Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros have split the first two games of their four-game series, which continues tonight at Daikin Park with first pitch scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET.

My top White Sox vs. Astros predictions and MLB picks call for Houston to cash in as a home favorite on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Who will win White Sox vs Astros today: Astros moneyline (56.7%)

For help understanding probabilities, see our odds calculator.

Not only is Chicago White Sox starter Davis Martin returning from a blister that sidelined him for nearly three weeks, but he’s also been on an 11-start statistical slide, posting a 6.03 xERA and 5.39 xFIP while allowing a hefty 39.9% hard-hit rate.

The favorable matchup comes at the right time for the reeling Houston Astros offense, too. Houston has the second-lowest xwOBA and lowest BABIP in the majors across the past 30 days despite ranking 13th in hard-hit rate.

I’m expecting the Astros to put enough runs on the board to pull away from the White Sox tonight, with Houston starter Hayden Wesneski finding a groove. He has allowed just a single run on four hits across his past two starts, posting a 2.64 xERA.

Expect the Astros to put enough runs on the board to pull away from the White Sox tonight, as Houston starter Hayden Wesneski has found a groove, allowing just a single run allowed on four hits across his past two starts.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Chicago White Sox righty Davis Martin has surrendered a mammoth .393 wOBA and .902 OPS to opposing hitters over his past 11 starts.

White Sox vs Astros Over/Under pick: Under 8.5 (49.8%)

Even with Martin’s highlighted struggles, I’m not expecting the Houston lineup to pile up runs given their long-standing slump. Martin was also sharp in his final rehab start with Triple-A Charlotte, finishing with five scoreless frames and five strikeouts.

Houston has also hit the team total Under in seven of its past 10 games at home (+3.65 Units / 32% ROI), with the game total going Under the number in six of the past nine at Daikin Park (+2.70 Units / 27% ROI).

With Wesneski set to also keep the White Sox largely in check, I’m anticipating a second consecutive low-scoring game tonight.

White Sox vs Astros home run prediction: Yordan Alvarez (25%)

Astros star Yordan Alvarez has hit 28 of his 37 home runs against righties with an eye-popping .310 ISO, so this is a great matchup for him to leave the yard again tonight.

Martin has also surrendered a massive .430 wOBA and .196 ISO to left-handed hitters across his past 11 starts.
