The Detroit Tigers entered the All-Star break with a league-best 59 wins, but a five-game losing streak has shifted the mood a little ahead of tonight’s clash with the Texas Rangers.

Detroit was shut out last night at Globe Life Field, but my Tigers vs Rangers predictions signal a bounce-back effort here, with the visitors chasing Texas starter Kumar Rocker and padding their huge lead in the AL Central.

Take a closer look at my MLB picks for Saturday, July 19.

Tigers vs Rangers prediction

My Tigers vs Rangers best bet: Tigers moneyline (+100 Caesars)

Even the very best MLB teams are entitled to a blip in this long regular season, so I’m not overreacting to the Detroit Tigers’ recent struggles, especially with the division race essentially wrapped up.

Detroit had won five in a row before this mini-slump, which continued in last night’s rough four-hit effort at the plate, and I’m counting on the bats to show up tonight to help the visitors turn the corner.

This is also a wager on Keider Montero, who takes the ball for the Tigers and has looked terrific in a small sample size this season despite shifting between the starting rotation, the bullpen, and Triple-A. Detroit has won each of Montero’s five outings, and he’s posted a 0.96 ERA in that span.

On the flip side, Texas Rangers starter Kumar Rocker is another factor in picking the Tigers in this spot. Rocker drags a 6.29 ERA into this matchup, and he coughed off six runs, including three homers, in 4.1 innings against the Los Angeles Angels last week.

Texas has only covered the Run Line in 24 of its last 50 games, and that spells trouble against a Detroit lineup that’s averaging 4.92 RPG and ranks in the Top 10 in the big leagues in OBP and OPS. I’ll take this price for the Tigers to rediscover their roar tonight.

Tigers vs Rangers same-game parlay (SGP)

Corey Seager 1+ hits

Detroit’s five-game slide hasn’t been short of scoreboard action, with the Over hitting in four of those outings. That’s where I’m looking for the second leg of my SGP. Meanwhile, despite hammering the Under this year (58-38), the Rangers have nailed the Over in seven of their past 10 contests.

Corey Seager did the damage for Texas in last night’s victory, delivering a game-winning two-RBI double, and he’s primed for another hit here. Seager has posted a .354 batting average in July, including six doubles and three dingers.
