Julio Rodriguez has piled up the bases in recent weeks. He has averaged 2.5 per game over the last 20, clearing his line at a healthy 60% clip.
The good times should continue against JP Sears, who owns a 4.94 ERA on the season and enters this start in poor form. He has conceded 18 earned runs over his last six starts and lasted more than five innings only once. He’s allowed a lot of power in that span, giving up at least one homer in every single game.
Limiting power has been a struggle for Sears all year long. Righties have posted a .233 ISO, and he’s allowed 1.8 homers per nine innings. Perhaps most alarmingly, 48.5% of the hits he’s given up vs. right-handed bats have gone for extra bases.
Julio possesses real speed and contact skills. He also owns ISOs above .250 against two of the three most common pitches Sears throws.
