HR picks for July 23

Rafael Devers (+400 at DraftKings)

The Giants haven’t seen the biggest power output out of Rafael Devers quite yet. He’s smacked just two home runs since they acquired him in mid-June from the Boston Red Sox.

However, Devers still has 17 bombs on the year and is always a threat to go deep. He’ll be liking today’s matchup as well.

San Francisco faces Spencer Strider this afternoon, and he is improving lately. But, the righty does have trouble with the home run at times, allowing eight of them in 12 starts this season.

Devers is 1-for-3 lifetime against Strider with a homer. While he hasn’t left the yard since June 26, it does feel like his next bomb is right around the corner. Here’s why.

Devers is 4-for-9 in this series against Atlanta. He’s tearing the cover off the baseball. It wouldn’t surprise me if he kept up that brilliance in the finale and did some damage versus Strider.

Matt Olson (+290 at DraftKings)

We’ll shift to the other side of this afternoon's clash.

Matt Olson is known as one of the most powerful sluggers in the big leagues. We’re talking about a guy who smacked 54 bombs in 2023.

Although Olson has just 18 homers in what could definitely be considered a down season for him, I’m seeing value in him putting one in the bleachers today.

The Giants send the 0-8 Justin Verlander to the mound here. While Verlander is by no means pitching as badly as his record shows, he does give up home runs. He’s allowed 10 in 16 starts.

Olson is 6-for-24 lifetime against Verlander, and two of those hits are long balls.

Olson’s power has shown up more against right-handed hurlers as well, with 14 home runs in 2025. He also just went 3-for-5 in Tuesday’s brutal 9-0 loss to the Giants.

Mookie Betts (+380 at DraftKings)

This season has been a struggle for Mookie Betts, as he's hitting just .238 with 11 homers. Those are far from the numbers we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from the veteran.

Betts does have two homers this month though, and he’s had success against Minnesota Twins starter Chris Paddack, who gets the ball tonight.

Betts is 6-for-9 lifetime with a pair of bombs in this matchup. Paddack has allowed 16 homers this year, and three across his last two outings alone.

Betts has slugged six long balls off right-handed pitchers, and a lot of his power output has came at Dodger Stadium, as he’s gone deep eight times at home.

Although he’s struggling lately, Betts will feel a sense of confidence with Paddack on the bump. If he makes a mistake against Betts, he may just punish the righty in the worst possible way.
