FanDuel is enhancing its commitment to responsible gambling with a program in Massachusetts.

The online sportsbook recently announced it is teaming with Operation HOPE, a non-profit organization focused on providing personal financial literacy education.

The multi-faceted partnership promotes financial empowerment and offers free financial counseling from virtual and in-person coaches to Old Bay State residents. Counselors will help residents build savings, improve FICO scores, decrease debt, and manage entertainment spending through the HOPE Inside Program.

“Operation HOPE's work has demonstrated that when individuals have a strong foundation of financial literacy, they are better equipped to manage their spending responsibly,” FanDuel president Christian Genetski said. “FanDuel is committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate, and we believe that supporting proven financial literacy programs is a natural extension of our work to promote and empower responsible gaming.”

National campaign

The partners will also share the availability of this free program throughout the Old Bay State through digital billboards and signs, radio, and paid social and drive awareness.

FanDuel isn’t just stopping with Massachusetts for its responsible gaming push. There is also a spot presented by FanDuel and Operation HOPE on social media to promote financial literacy across the U.S.

FanDuel Sportsbook, active in more than 20 U.S. jurisdictions, was the market-share leader in the U.S. at 43% in the fourth quarter.

Flutter, FanDuel’s parent company, began being listed on the New York Stock Exchange on Monday.

FanDuel’s popularity in Massachusetts is only rivaled by DraftKings. FanDuel accepted more than $187 million in wagers in December alone, the second-most in the state.

Empowering people

Operation HOPE has launched several programs to help disenfranchised communities since launching in 1992.

It has served four million individuals and directed $3.2 billion in economic activity.

“HOPE Inside is designed to equip clients with the tools and resources required to make informed decisions about their finances,” Operation HOPE president and CFO Brian Betts said. “Through this partnership with FanDuel, we can help empower those who want to learn how to take control of their finances, which can ultimately lead to less stress and a higher quality of life.”
