DAZN Bet has officially made its North American debut.
- DAZN Bet has launched its online sportsbook and casino in Ontario, marking the brand's first entry into the North American market.
- The company plans to expand into Alberta as one of the early operators when the province's competitive iGaming market opens in July.
- DAZN Bet says it is making a long-term commitment to Canada, and is joining Ontario's large and established regulated online gambling market.
The streaming giant’s online sports betting and internet casino gambling business launched in Ontario on Tuesday, making the Canadian province the first North American market in which DAZN Bet has gone live. It is already live in several European jurisdictions.
“Canada is a market that values integrity and responsible play and we are entering Ontario with a product that is designed for long term sustainability,” said Valery Gelfman, CEO of DAZN Bet, in a press release. “We are committed to operating with a local mindset and a customer-centric approach.”
The DAZN brand has strong ties to Canada, given the streaming service’s rights to NFL and other sports in the country. Many Canadians already know it for those reasons, and DAZN Bet may be able to leverage those relationships for its Ontario sports betting business.
Ontario will not be DAZN Bet’s only stop in Canada, either. The brand is also registered with the Alberta sports betting regulator.
That license means DAZN Bet is in line to launch in that province as early as July 13, the opening day of Alberta’s competitive iGaming market.
Streaming could obviously be an edge for DAZN Bet in Ontario given DAZN's streaming business in Canada. TBD on all the sports that get streamed on DAZN Bet but here's a screenshot of Counter-Strike with some betting lines. pic.twitter.com/tiVhvnRjLS

Indeed, Tuesday’s press release confirms that DAZN Bet “will expand into Alberta and become one of the early operators in the market in the near future.”
“This is the beginning of a long-term commitment to the country,” added Richard Rawlinson, managing director of DAZN Bet Canada, in the release.
DAZN Bet’s entry into Ontario also shows the relatively mature iGaming market is still attracting and maintaining operators after being open for more than four years.
As of Tuesday, there are 47 operators and 81 sports betting, poker, and other iGaming-related sites authorized by Ontario regulators. That doesn’t include the iGaming business of the government-owned Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., either.
