A trio of American golfers are posing the biggest threats for two major sportsbooks heading into the second major of 2026.
Key Takeaways
- Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Young are the two most-bet golfers in the PGA Championship field.
- Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, and Ludvig Aberg could hurt sportsbooks with a win this week.
- Excitement for Bryson DeChambeau has died down a bit for this major.
It should come as no surprise that Scottie Scheffler is the most-bet golfer at both BetMGM and FanDuel to win the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Course in Pennsylvania, especially considering he’s a more generous +480 at FanDuel to win the tournament.
The other two popular picks are Cameron Young (+1,200) and Jordan Spieth, who is chasing history beginning Thursday. With PGA Championship odds of +6,600 in the outright winner market, Spieth’s getting enough of the tickets and handle to be BetMGM’s biggest liability, followed by Scheffler and Young.
“World No. 1 Scottie Scheffer and the in-form Cameron Young are great results for customers in the outright market for the PGA Championship,” BetMGM senior trader Matt Wall said. “However, the biggest liability currently is Jordan Spieth as BetMGM customers dream of the former world No. 1 finally completing the career grand slam.”

Biggest liabilities
At a course expected to produce low scoring this week, Scheffler and Young are getting 8% of the bet count each at FanDuel, with the top player in the world seeing a whopping 26% of the money. Young is getting 9% of the handle, while long shot Spieth is third with 6% of the wagers. He’s also seen 5% of the handle.
Young has seen even more love at DraftKings, where he’s getting 16% of the handle, more than Scheffler and Rory McIlroy combined.

At BetMGM, Scheffler leads the field with 13.7% of the tickets and 23.2% of the money. Young has seen nearly 10% of both, putting him second in those categories, while McIlroy is third in tickets at 5.8%.
Who else?
Ludvig Aberg (+1,800) continues to be a golfer bettors are taking to capture his first major, ranking third at BetMGM with 7.2% of the money. Rickie Fowler and Tommy Fleetwood rank in FanDuel’s top-five most-bet golfers, while BetMGM has also seen action on three-time PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka.
“Two other American players who have found form recently and have been well backed are Rickie Fowler and Brooks Koepka, while Ludvig Aberg gains popularity on the book as a European player,” Wall said.
England native Matt Fitzpatrick is getting 5.2% of the handle at BetMGM, the fifth highest of any golfer in the field to win outright.
There hasn’t been as much betting love for Bryson DeChambeau as there was for the Masters. The LIV golfer is getting 5% of the handle at FanDuel, but BetMGM reported just 3.4% of the tickets and 3% of the money are backing DeChambeau, who failed to make the cut at Augusta after getting the most wagers at BetMGM.
Other popular markets
Aberg has proved he can get out to hot starts, so BetMGM customers have made the Swede the most-bet golfer to lead after the first round at +2,800. Chris Gotterup is second at +6,000, followed by Nicolai Hojgaard (+5,000), Young (+2,500), and Scheffler (+1,600).
Despite a drop in form at times this year, Scheffler leads the top-five finish market in tickets, even with -110 odds. Young, Fleetwood, Fitzpatrick, and Aberg round out that group in terms of popularity.
Fowler is getting love to have a strong finish. He's the fourth-most bet to finish in the top 10 at odds of +400 and most bet for the top 20 at +200.
