DraftKings-owned Jackpocket announced on Wednesday that a customer won $250.8 million using its lottery ticket courier service.

The announcement comes after it was revealed that a lucky individual in Arkansas matched the Powerball numbers to their ticket for the Feb. 28 draw.

Key Takeaways

  • The prize was the largest ever won by a Jackpocket user.

  • DraftKings purchased Jackpocket for $750 million in 2024.

  • State officials have expressed skepticism of lottery couriers.

Jackpocket confirmed in an announcement that the winning lottery ticket was only the second in-app purchase made by the winning customer.

“We’re thrilled for our customer in Arkansas and amazed that just their second order placed with Jackpocket resulted in a life-changing $250.8 million jackpot — setting a new Jackpocket record,” said Pete Sullivan, SVP, Lottery at DraftKings. “This historic win underscores our commitment to delivering a best-in-class, secure, and seamless lottery experience for our customers.”

The $250.8 million prize—which can be redeemed in increasing annuity payments spread across 29 years or swapped for a one-time payment of $118 million—is the largest ever for a ticket purchased on Jackpocket.  It is also the 80th time that a Jackpocket customer won at least $1 million using their service.

This marks just the third time that the Powerball jackpot has been won in Arkansas. The winning ticket was sold at Winners Corner, a gift shop and licensed location for the lottery in Little Rock.

“We couldn’t be more excited that another jackpot-winning Powerball ticket was sold in Arkansas,” said Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Executive Director Sharon Strong in a release. “We’re always happy to see another player land a life-changing prize."

Jackpocket secures a defining victory

Lottery courier services allow customers to pick their numbers for an upcoming draw. A company official will travel to a store to purchase, scan, and upload the ticket, where the user can then track its progress.

DraftKings acquired Jackpocket in May 2024 in a deal worth $750 million. The move allowed DraftKings to compete on nearly every front in the gambling industry, including sports betting, online casino gaming, prediction markets, fantasy contests, and the lottery.

Before the acquisition, Jackpocket in 2023 partnered with The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery to celebrate the growing Mega Millions jackpot offer. New customers were given a free $2 Mega Millions ticket if they signed up for the Jackpocket mobile app.

“The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery is proud to celebrate this $250.8 million win alongside our retail partner, Jackpocket,” Sharon Strong said after the $250.8 million winner was revealed.

“Through our collaboration, we have been able to provide Arkansans with more convenient ways to play lottery games, now leading to this historic moment. We look forward to celebrating even more wins, both big and small, as we raise proceeds to benefit our students and our state.”

Lottery couriers remain divisive

Jackpocket is available in 17 jurisdictions. Customers can order Powerball, Mega Millions, and state lottery tickets from their phone in any of these locations.

Despite the Arkansas customer’s success, lottery courier services remain controversial. Officials have cited a variety of concerns, including the regulation of ticket handling, bulk orders, money laundering, and fraud.

Jackpocket withdrew from Texas and New Mexico early in 2025 amid piling pressure, including Attorney Generals in both states.
