The final signature event of the 2025 PGA Tour season has arrived, and it’s a loaded field teeing it up at TPC River Highlands this week for the Travelers Championship.

Defending champion and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the betting favorite in the Travelers Championship odds. Still, I’m looking past the favorite with this week's top golf picks.

Golf picks for the Travelers Championship 2025

Travelers Championship outright picks

Outright pick: Xander Schauffele
+1700 at bet365

Under the radar might be the best way to describe Xander Schauffele’s form heading into the 2025 Travelers.

He’s posted seven straight Top-30 finishes, including four inside the Top 15, and the two-time major winner has gained true strokes across every metric during the stretch. He also ranks third in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green and fourth on approach, so all signs are pointing in the right direction over this seven-event run.

Don’t forget, Xander won here in 2022 and owns four additional Top 20s in six career starts at TPC River Highlands.

Outright pick: Viktor Hovland
+3500 at DraftKings

Given the Norwegian’s current momentum and his solo third-place finish at the U.S. Open, this number feels long for Viktor Hovland.

He placed T20 at the 2024 Travelers and T11 back in 2020, and the ball-striking star has gained true strokes on approach shots in 11 straight events — ranking second in this field in the stat and 11th in true strokes gained tee-to-green over the stretch, which includes his win in the Valspar.

Travelers Championship prop picks

Finishing position pick: Ryan Fox Top 30
+120 at Caesars

The seasoned international winner has broken through on the PGA Tour with two wins in his past five events, including victories at the Myrtle Beach Classic and RBC Canadian Open.

Ryan Fox is playing confidently and is in excellent form, with ranks of fourth in this field in both true strokes gained tee-to-green and on approach while also sitting 18th in putting.

I expect his well-rounded game to play at TPC River Highlands this week, too.

Matchup pick: Russell Henley over Hideki Matsuyama
-110 at bet365

Russell Henley heads to the Travelers in excellent form with a T10 at the U.S. Open and a T5 at the Memorial. He’s gained true strokes across the board this season to rank ninth in this field in both tee-to-green play and on approach, and the five-time PGA Tour champion also ranks 14th in putting.

Add Henley ranking a rock-solid 15th in adjusted scoring average on Tour to him gaining true strokes on approach in each of his seven trips to TPC River Highlands, and I expect Henley to play better than the skidding Hideki Matsuyama this week.

Obviously, Matsuyama is a world-class talent, but he’s also missed the cut in three of his past eight events and has topped out with a T36 in the Charles Schwab across his past four. He’s also lost true strokes putting over the highlighted eight-tournament stretch.

Travelers Championship first-round pick

Round 1 pick: Ben Griffin Top 20
+150 at bet365

Ben Griffin has shifted it into cruise control with four consecutive Top 10 finishes, including his win in the Charles Schwab and solo second in the Memorial. He added a T10 in the U.S. Open and has gained true strokes across the board with ranks of fifth in this field in tee-to-green play and second in putting during the heater.

This will also be his third trip to TPC River Highlands, and he gained true strokes on approach in each of his first two, so I expect a solid start for the American. Of course, Griffin also ranks ninth on tour in adjusted scoring average and 29th in first-round scoring average.
