I think this is a much easier opponent for Frannie... Marino had the weapons to hurt Frannie... she had a big 1st serve and had a big forehand.
Monica has no weapons...she uses a smoke/mirrors brand of tennis where she moon balls-slices and tries to dice her opponent. It was a perfect strategy for ball bashers and mental midgets like Timea and Pironkova... but i don't think it will work versus Frannie.
Both of these players are clay courters.... Frannie won't mind the spins and garbage balls that Monica throws up...because she will throw some of that garbage right back.
Monica has one of the weaker serves and is one of the few people who uses alot of forehand slice.
I think that the style of Frannie will eat up Monica here. ![]()

Schiavone, who had been dealing with a groin strain coming into the first major of the season, had her right upper leg heavily wrapped when she took to the court.
After it was over, she waited for both the doctor and the WTA Tour physio, and had a long on-court consultation with them before finally leaving.
She reportedly also vomited after the match, the victim of stomach cramps and a whole host of other ailments, And she was a woman of few words afterward.

I watched the match and she almost vomitted on court a couple of times... you could see she was really hurting.
Normally I would 100% agree with fading people in this spot... I just don't think Monica has any of the weapons to take advantage of it. Frannie won't need her movement as much as Monica is a junk baller.
Marino had the big serve and forehand and was moving Frannie around... Monica can't do that...if anything Frannie will be in control of the rallies in this one.
Am going to see where the line goes on this one... line movement has been gold in this tourney for the most part ...gl N3 ![]()

Question you have to ask yourself is this... why would Nadal tell the world he isn't right? Makes no sense to me for him to advertise this and give his opponents more hope and confidence.
He was jaded leading into the French and didn't disclose it until after. Part of me says this is a bluff. He knows how close he is to history and isn't afraid to pull out all of the stops to make it happen.... if not he and is camp are stupid.
The night match should favor Nadal...conditions should be slower and the temperature cooler.
Cilic might win a set and pull off the upset... but for me something smells with all of this... gl n3
