I'm on Simon as well for a small play. No reason why he can't pull out a win here; it's definitely possible and he's getting great odds. I'm also taking the early line on Del Potro +130 vs Donkey. He destroyed him in Davis Cup and he should be able to win on hardcourt. I'm not buying into this idea that he's tanking to rest for the DC final anymore. Both these players are playing to win for a spot in the semis. Del Potro could use the form and momentum from this tournament for DC as well.

simon didn't come to play...murray played the best match he's played in a long time...he said that in the interview afterwards, and that's saying something

betlarge (buck:), yes, you may be kind of right but both you and vanzack don't know how it works, nobody does....my guess is that the books will lay off action very very rarely, that is if they are getting hit too hard but that is rarely the case....they will assume liability......it is all computerized where if a certain amount of money goes on one side, the pointspread changes or the juice attached to the pointspread changes....the only thing that moves lines is money....if they want to get off 1 side, they will just move the line....i agree with you in that they don't lay bets off....

I agree with you!!

In that thread, I was talking about how it worked IF a book laid off bets.  They do do it occasionally, but as a rule, I totally agree with you that it is the extreme exception and not the rule.

Books assume the liability in a single game / match because if they do their job correctly, over time those will even out and they will collect the juice.

yes vanzack, i have the same thoughts...only agents or people that work for the books know....nice that you're still around this site

does anybody know if fed gets through automatically if simon loses to stepanek????...if simon wins and fed wins, fed is through?....if simon loses 2-1 and fed loses in straights, what then?

i will be trading these matches, if i have time i will post my play here during the match but it will be quick w/o writeups..i'm going to be going on what i see on the court

semis and final i'll play prematch

If Simon loses and Fed loses then I am certain Simon is through because even though they will both be 1-2, Simon beat Federer in the head to head tiebreaker...
 
It gets complicated if they both win because at that point all 3 players (Murray as well) are 2-1, but then it becomes a 3 way tiebreaker and that is based on sets (and not head to head because each will be 1-1 against the other 2).
 
Stepanek looks like a definite "live dog" against Simon. I've read hsi interviews and he has alot of respect for the tourney and wants to get a win, and I believe there is an extra 50 or 100k if he wins as well...

stepanek has the game to beat simon...he beat him in straights at rg this year though don't read much into that...very difference court, form, circumstances, etc

however simon looked worn down vs murray...he has played so much recently, and his game takes a lot of work...fed, then murray, he may be done, both mentally and physically...stepanek has the game to damage him b/c he won't stay back..he will come to the net, and simon will have to hit some clean winners, don't see it happening...

I assume he's had his own equipment flown in by now to play Simon, so he should be in better and more comfortable form.  At +200, it's definitely worth a shot for a unit.

i played this tournament badly...as i said a week from today, djokovic was primed to play well here, it set up perfectly for him...unfortunately, i didn't future him, even until thurs could've futured him at over +300...now there is no point...he had a tougher match than nd...should be a good final tomorrow, better to watch than bet, could go either way...gl

Taz, that kid I was telling you about out in OKC....Spencer Papa...he just beat the #1  12 -year- old in the world down in Florida with Roger F's coach in attendance.  Coaches, sporting goods companies are all salivating.  I know Spencer's father and grandfather very well and they are letting him be a kid, but are helping him with direction.  email me when the next big tennis play is on your radar....want to tail you.
