top favourite NHL system?

In MLB and NHL, some people have  profited from this old system before.  That is, bet on top moneyline favourite of the day and increase stakes after each loss.  But how well did this system perform in the long term?

I just did some spot checking and the only way it would seem to be profitable is doing a chase of some sort.  Maybe this could be a good system, who knows.

good grief, didn't read the original post clearly, so this is a chase.... but it did seem profitable from what I looked at so far.

Wondering if this works in with point spreads. simple enough to follow
