i see a lot of the same guys on here everyday and some throw around some pretty big money. i was wondering how many guys on here actually gamble (mainly sports betting) for a living? and anyone who does, what are their opinions about it

I think its not a profitable venture. And it can be pretty stressful. I bet in the long run even the best take losses

I gave it a run and had some gargantuan swings. Betting amounts ranged from 500-22,000. Up 20k in a a week, down 25 the next...Was not fun or healthy. Nearly cost me my marriage and ruined the time I spent with my family during that 6 months or so.

I stopped betting all together for about 6 months to clear my head and now throw a few 100 on a game if it looks like a winner and only a few times or once a week...much more fun this way!!

The 22k was on Jon Jones (UFC) at -550...Easiest 4k I made the whole time!

you would have to blow a lot of money in the beginning to make a living in the future but overall. Its stress!! but i can say Im always looking foward to makng bucks during march madness and nba playoffs and hopefully not giving back in NFL..

Play blackjack by the chart, learn how to get a rough card count on the shoe, and try to time it rite when u raise ur bets, way more fun, and most of the time u can get casino freebees when they comp you

Blackjack?!??,? Lol. Out of all table games poker gives you the best chance but you need skill. Not a fun life grinding

Poker is more how u can read people, if thats whay u r good at then ya it can b a good play, i look at blackjack as a true numbers game,,numbers dont lie, u have only one thing to wory about, its not a bad game, if u can count past 10 without taking ur shoes off

There are two challenges:

1. Finding a specific sport and bet type where you have an edge over the books.

2. Scaling your bets so that you can capitalize on the (usually small) edge.

The second challenge is actually more difficult due to bet limits, the limits of your own bank roll, and the fact that the books can react to what you are doing.

I haven't worked in 9 years. Im 50 years old!

Things you must have to do this for a living:
1.Money ...to spend that does not affect your bills for at least a year to get started.

Skills you MUST Have:
1.Money Management is a must. You have to be disciplined. I feel now that what i do isnt even gambling.This is a must! if youre a trigger happy action junkie...dont even attempt it.

Personality Traits you MUST have:
1.You MUST have no EGO!
2.You MUST not be greedy!
3.You shouldnt DRINK when working.
4.You MUST realize its a job that pays the Bills, not a vacation.

If you have money and can do these things and have these attributes...it can be done!

That's impressive.I've been doing this 20 years now.Grew up friends with the son of the "local" and have seen a lot.To not work for 9 years you are one of the very few.
