Looking for some help.

I try to get out to the track whenever I can and would like to start dabbling in betting horses online but I have no idea how to best go about betting on horses I can't see, have never heard of and, in some cases, are running on the other side of the world.

Anyone bet the ponies online that can help me with the basics of how to spot value?
