Help getting started

Hey everyone...been following covers for a little over a year now...been betting through a local book for about 4 years...the book manipulates lines fairly heavily so i decided this year to try an online sportsbook.  My question is about building a bankroll.  Would anyone find it a better idea to bet games on moneyline, following the top teams in each sport...or is there more of a payout betting based on the points.  The book i was going through did not offer moneylines, just spreads therefore I don't have much experience with moneylines and the advantages/disadvantages.  Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks for any help and lets make some cash.

For example on this past weekends USC/Oregon game, I saw the game at +17 for Oregon on the online book..and I got 14 through my local, not that it mattered because it was a loss either way...but I can remember last season seeing an over/under of 42 on a game which the local raised to 49.5, don't remember which game...but this is a common occurance through the local book.

If he raises a line like crazy, take advantage of it and go under.

Thanks for all the input everyone...SRTZEE I had the same reasoning...at least to build a bankroll go with moneylines on anything you think is a sure bet because of the backdoor cover you can get nailed with on a points bet....Chance im about to send an email over shortly

Online sportbooks are usually better than local bookies because of better lines offered.  In the long run, small price advantages might be the difference between profit or loss. 

 

Your choice of moneyline or pointspread.  Profit depends on combination of probability and payout.  Low payout needs high probability but high payout allows for lower probability.
