If
you like offense, then the Big 12 Championship is the game for you.
Oklahoma has tallied 61, 65, 66, 62 and 58 points in its last five wins
en route to the BCS-given South Division title. No college team has
ever scored 60 points or more in five consecutive games. The Sooners
have a chance to do it. A big question mark is the injured left finger
of Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford, which caused him to bobble several snaps
from center in last week’s victory at Oklahoma State.
Missouri
tarnished its North Division title in this same Arrowhead Stadium last
week with a 40-37 loss to Kansas. The Tigers were a 16½-point favorite
against the Jayhawks. Now they’re on the other end, getting 17. Chase
Daniel can certainly put up numbers for the Tigers, who have scored at
least 31 points in 11 of their 12 games. Missouri came up well short in
a 56-31 loss to Texas, which also beat Oklahoma 45-35.
While the over
is certainly tempting, its not so sure. First there’s Bradford’s
finger. Then, there’s the fact that the last five Missouri games have
gone under 79 points. Also, there’s the weather. Game
time temperature is predicted to be around 31 degrees and will fall
into the mid 20’s by the second half. The wind is expected to be about
14 mph, which puts the chill factor in the teens. The football may be a
bit tough to hold and a 3-0 quarter could make 79 points difficult to
reach. We’re definitely not going to see 10-7, but perhaps the elements
can keep this game below the 79. UNDER.
