I agree they want that, but if the refs don't have a hand in it, I don't think it will happen... I wish I could count on a fairly called match between Belgium and Argentina, because Belgium (on an even playing-field) would be a great bet!  Will probably just have to sprinkle a little and watch the refs hand Argentina every close call...

Overall, just drained after the US game.

Obviously we shouldn't have won - but had so many chances - it seems like we squandered it.

But if you look at it - we played 4 games - won one, tied one, and lost two.  That's not good enough.  We played with a great spirit - but our talent needs to get better or we are going to be a perennial round of 16 team.

Neymar v Messi..

For those of who arent narrow minded and believe the sport is legit.. i would love to throw something down on Colombia to beat Brasil... not likely to happen, thus resulting in a France v Brasil match up, and based on history and current run of play.. France would be marching on..

I tend not to buy any of this.  In any sport.  There is too much to orchestrate.

Has gotta be Brazil, right? Everyone's backed them pre-tournament.

The amazing thing about that stat is how easily it could have swung the other way on most of those matches... 2 shootouts, 3 others that went into extra-time, and both the Netherlands and France not taking the lead until 85+ minutes into it...

7 out of 8 could have panned out the other way. Only Colombia really controlled theirs, and if Suarez was in the lineup, that one could have turned out differently, too...

And yet here we are with every favorite coming out on top... strange!

My guess is... we are about to see a couple of tight quarterfinals and at least one blowout.

And somehow I don't think the Netherlands will be 'it'.

Early look, but I like Columbia (just kidding, Colombia) to advance at +216.

Soccer is great, but there are some rules that need changing.

PK for a touch foul?! Punishment does not fit the crime.

    Only 3 subs?!

Short-handed for whole game?! Again, Punishment does not fit the crime.

Off-sides. Some change needed to open up the game.

Use replay to determine foul or flop.

Cut down on flopping and faking injury to kill clock.

Make stoppage time exact! Keep a real running clock for all stoppages and fake injury delays.

i have been saying these things for years. These are some of the reasons i hate this sport and hate to wager on it even more. Some of these changes are needed to make this sport great. The amount of goals we saw in the first round of games was great but now the players have gone back to old tactics, they have to make some changes.I love to watch the WC but i never watch soccer any other time.

You know nobody is forcing you to bet on it or watch it right? If you don't enjoy it, then don't watch

They don't HAVE to do anything. It's the most popular sport in the world for a reason. Stop trying to change a game that is already great.

Great points.  But then refs couldn't fix matches as easily as they do now.

You guys are aware that when you lose your bet, there's a very good chance the ref didn't fix the game, right....?  Pick the right side next time.

I know it is rare, but maybe sometimes you guys aren't as sharp as you think you are.

This is for the people crying about FIFA and ref fixing games.

I'm talking about apples and you're talking about pears. How is watching tennis on the same level as the WC? I may not like the sport in general but the WC is a whole different ball game.

My biggest problem with this sport is not enough goals.

And too many players competing for a single ball.

    And not enough action.

If these were addressed, I'm sure people would care about soccer.
