Well - I dont know whether to feel lucky or unlucky after that game.

I know how I would have felt if England would have won the shootout, so I guess all things considered.....

To be completely honest I personally thought this game would end up at 1-1. So I'm partially agreeing with you on not betting the under 2.0 as I as well thought it would push. But I did not see it losing so I gave it a go as well as the Italy to advance knowing England is so poor on penalties. I did not see Italy dominating so much as they did, though. In the end the right team went through, thank god.

Was also surprised we got to see so many chances being created - again I thought it would end 1-1 pre-game, but I would have guessed we'd see few chances, but both teams taking good care of the few being created. Instead it was the complete opposite.


The fact that the line was as low as 2.0 was a smart move by the bookies - in my opinion making people rethink before they backed the under, and not wanting to risk an under 1.5 at some fairly nice plus money having a 1-1 correct score in the back of their minds, they then would change their thoughts into backing the O2.5 instead at plus money.

Just a loosely based theory, based on my own thinking from betting in the past.

Van, luck hasn't been on our side in this tourney my friend. Italy should have won 2-0 in regulation today.

The night before Italy was an underdog in my book. This morning I awoke to Italy being favored. It was a 30 cent move through the night.

italy really could have won 4 or 5 to 1 or so.

italy completely out classed the english today, the game could have easily ended in a multi goal win for the italians.

Doesn't Germany look suspiciously cheap to you? Given all the media attention how Germany gets additional rest and how they should have their way with Italy.... looks way too easy imo

There should be 4-5 goals scored the rest of the tournament. Bet the under each game.

I think that over is the play in Germany/Italy.  Italy gives the ball up easily.  Germany has shown that the can create scoring opportunities and finish them.  I think they put 2 in the net.  Germany's defense is a little suspect, and I can see Italy getting one in also.  2-1 Germany is my best guess.

Who has the most total shots by far of the 4 teams left in the tournament?  Germany?  Portugal?  Nope - its Italy.  Italy has the most shots, but the least goals by far (only 1 goal in 4 games+ from open play on 88 shots).  So there is good news / bad news there - you can look at something like that and say they are creating chances and are due to score - or you can assume they are poor finishers and that will continue.

Germany on the other hand has the least shots - but the most goals.  So go figure.... But soccer is about scoring goals - not shooting.

I do think the extra rest under these circumstances is a big deal for Germany - and I dont know how Italy comes out fresh after playing 120 minutes against England on 3 days rest.  Germany played an alternate trio up front in the quarters - so they have a full rested and healthy squad to choose from.

I just think Germany has too much firepower for Italy.  Im in a bit of a strange position with my future on Italy to win the tournament at +14-1, but I will be betting Germany -.5 -105 to win in 90 for 2 units.  Most likely result Germany 2-0.

I also think Spain just has too much for Portugal.  I thought Portugal played their best when they werent just absorbing pressure (like against Germany) - their best games were when they were dictating pace.  I dont see them matching well up againt Spain - and while Ronaldo could play on Spain - Im not sure anyone else on the Portugal team could start on Spain.

I just see Spain with all of the ball, and Portugal chasing them until they tire or make that critical defensive misake - I dont see Portugal getting the chances up front because Spain will just not give them an opportunity to get their transition game going.  I learned my lesson last game with France.

My worry is that Spain just doesnt get enough chances - and they get to 90 without scoring - but I will take my chances.  Spain wins a very workmanlike Spanish typical 2-0 victory.  Spain in 90 -100 for 2 units.

We're close here, I got Germany and I lean to Spain but took the OVER instead just in case Portugal gets a goal.  Unlike you I don't think Spain can play 90 without scoring.
