My opinion is that it could have easily been interpreted as him "gaining an advantage" by being in that position. Afterall, he scored about 3 seconds later.
I just think the interpretation COULD have been either way.
I agree Van. He really fits all three of the criteria if you really want to be picky. By jumping in the play he gained an advantage, clearly interfered with the play since he scored the goal, and interfered with an opponent by making the goalie compensate for his position on the pass.
I really didn't see Croatia scoring the rest of the game anyway, but it is what it is.

I agree with your angle on the England / Ukraine game but I think I'll be on Ukraine and the half of a goal for nearly all of the same reasons you just talked about. I don't see England pressing for a goal and wouldn't be surprised to see a similar type of game as Spain / Croatia (few chances with the better team being happy to draw).

“gaining an advantage by being in that position” means playing a ball that rebounds to him off a goalpost or the crossbar having been in an offside position or playing a ball that rebounds to him off an opponent having been in an offside position

5D had it @ -158 before the Spain game. Now this game means much more to France, because they need to win to avoid Spain in the quarters. Hence the jump to -178.

I would never fade the great van....but I fear 0-0 is nowhere near the predicted result. The ref in this game is a yellow and red card addict and with Ukraine most likely to be aggressive, we might see some penalty kicks, or even someone being sent off. If it's 1-1, Ukraine will try everything to score which will open it up for England on the counter. Sort of how the Portugal the other day just running wild all over the place down the stretch with tons of space. I fear that in this game in terms of the total. I don't know, I played it safe with England at PK at the high juice, but tailed you on Les Blues. Let's get em, keep up the great work sir, it truly is a piece of art!
