2012 Soccer Play of the Week Contest...Week 8

Soccer Play of the Week Contest for Week 8 of 26

~Only 1 play will be counted. If you want to change your play, do so w/ enough time before your original match begins.

~Include the Date of the match, team or total, and your price and Sportsbook for your pick in American odds.  Only Moneylines, Draws, Asian Handicaps (spreads) and over/under bets between -400 to +400 will be accepted.  No parlays or prop bets will be allowed.

~Minimum 20 weeks of participation required to be ranked at the end of the 6 month contest 

~ A pushed bet will count as a tie for the week and no further bets are allowed until the following week.

Example of an acceptable posted pick:
1/5   Chelsea ML -350 (5dimes)

Examples of an unacceptable pick:
Tuesday, Chelsea ML 
Chelsea to score 4 or more goals
1/5  Chelsea ML -500 

~The contest will run weekly from January 2nd through June 30, 26 weeks.  Beginning Week #8, the contest will be closed to new players, as it will not be possible to accumulate 20 picks necessary for the final rankings.

~The next Contest will begin July 1, 2012 and will run through December 31st.

The Contest is Now Closed to New Players!!!

Players in RED are on the verge of being cut from the Contest.  They need to submit plays in 19 of the remaining 19 weeks to stay in the competition.

Players in YELLOW need to submit plays in 17 or 18 of the remaining 19 weeks to stay in the competition.

The new Contest will begin July 1st, 2012.

Two issues have come up this week:

1) You must post lines from a "normal" sportsbook.  NO BETTING EXCHANGES ALLOWED.

You are allowed to lock in a price days in advance, and if that price travels on you, you may adjust to the better price with no problem.

BetFair and other exchanges who offer much higher odds than the rest of us can get creates an unfair advantage and undermines the positive nature of the Contest.

2) Posting your play 59 seconds before your match starts is, by the letter of the law, acceptable.  But again, it undermines what we are trying to create with this Contest. 

I envision this Contest to be the "regulars" in the Forum posting their BEST play of the week, so others who know less about soccer betting can tail well-capped plays.

You all have 7 days with which to post a play.  There should be no excuse to post a minute or 2 before a match begins.  Nuff said.
