Wagering that there will be a 1st inning run and doubling up through the 3rd inning until one does. As far as a side, I don't know yet without pitchers being announced.

Philles own this team at home. Going with Phillies ML at home here too. Still don't totally buy all the Dodger hype, cant believe they are favored here on the road.

Really like the under in this matchup, but not getting a really good feeling about the side one way or the other. Hold a gun to my head and I'd have to go with the Dodgers to even things up. You can look at all the trends you want and find some that seem to point to Philly and some that point to LA. In a case like this I have to side with the "better" starting pitcher. Meyers has tapered off towards the end of the season, a possible sign of fatigue. Over his last 5 starts he has been roughed up 3 times and has an ERA around 6. If he gets hit early it will be a short night for him. If not, it will likely be another pitchers duel with the win going to the team that catches a break here and there. The only reason I take Billingsly here is the chance that Meyers has another rough start and gets pulled in less than 5 innings. Something stinks when the road team is favored against a team that plays well at home. Possible attempt to get people taking Philly as a small dog???

Anybody got stats on win/loss for the road team trying to even things up in game 2? Not sure where you would find such info without a lot of digging, but might be worth knowing.

The Phils continue to get by while only managing oneinning of offense per game (w/ exception to Game 4 of their NLDS).
That they've gotten this far on that type of scoring pattern, is somewhat remarkable. It almost convinces me that they just might be 'a team of destiny' this season. . . . Almost . . .
L.A. WE LOVE IT!

Last night the Phils bats looked very focused. They were taking the count deep despite a great performance by a red hot Lowe. They finally broke through in the 6th because of their determination. These lineups are very impressive right now. The Phils 1-7 hitters can park a pitch at any AB and the Dodgers 1-8 can get on base at any time as well. Manny and Eithier are so dialed in its scary and if the Phils were looking for a spark, the Utley and Burell HR's was it.
Rollins 6-12, Utley 4-8, Howard 3-10, and Feliz 6-16 career against Billingsley. This year alone Rollins 3-3 and Utley/Feliz 2-3 when Bllingsley gave up 7H 3ER 5BB 3K in 6IP in his only start v the Phils. Meyers last start v LA was a CGSO, but in that game he gave up 9H and 3BB including Kemp going 3-4, Either 2-3, and Martin 3-4.
K o D, Im with you again. Wait to bet LA at home with Kuroda. In the mean time take the OVER today. Look at last night...Both Hamels and Lowe pitched excelent games and they still combned 5 runs. With the current state of both teams O and the shakey BvP history, these teams are bound to put up 9 together.

Is this good for the Phillies (everyone rallies round their skipper) or bad for the Phillies (Manuel is distracted)? What are the historical stats when a manger's mother dies during the playoffs?

For what it's worth, Jerry Manuel's mother died this morning...

As far as I know, every time the manager's mother dies during the playoffs, they lose BIG!

It means nothing. If they win---they rallied behind their coach. If they lose---they were distracted. Meyers' command will be 100 times more influential on the outcome.

Manny doesn't get mad. He just doesn't care what happens in the game (else he would have legged out that triple). That was the problem in Boston - I've never seen a player with such a "the sun will still come up tomorrow" attitude. (example: in the brawl with the d-rays, he was the only one on the entire team who didn't come out) I guess it's healthy mentally, but it drives fans crazy.
I'll stick with the Phillies - despite Manuel's distraction.
