We need a Mamdani Thread

People are trained to believe that the government providing any type of relief for their citizens is some form of boogeyman.  It's really sad.  Take care of the citizens or there will be chaos and violence.  That's really the simplicity of it.  Your life might be good now but with a desperate populace, it won't be.

So what if he is a socialist, if the GOP had put anything centrist up that wasnt uncle Cuomo you might have stood a chance. Sanders is as or more socialist than this guy is and he seems to be able to consider the needs of those he serves and I am sure that is exactly the same thing in this case.

If anywhere a candidate can exist and do well as a progressive it is NYC.

The crazy thing is, people like Mamdani and Sanders are not even promoting true leftist policies.  The Overton window has shifted so much in this country, that people's perspective's are heavily skewed.

In the end it could be much ado about nothing. I don't believe a lot of stuff this clown campaigned on is even doable by the Mayor, alone. Decommodifying private property for rent control? He made a lot of promises he likely can't keep, other than raising taxes & defunding LE. Should be FTW.

This guy is cheap like most Lefties! He had a cash bar at his victory party!

But Sanders is just 1 small piece of the Senate,  and wields little power without the support of other Senators,  and then has the House to offer its checks and balances .

The power that Mamdami yields has as Mayor is a big deal.  Think of him as CEO of New York.  He runs the show and can direct policies as he sees fit.  How will he work w the Police Chief ?  How many landlords will up and leave the state w his rent control policies  ?  Nobody in recent memory has had the ability to implement true socialist policies in this country.

 There were 13 elections last night for a statewide office.

Democrats swept all 13.

That’s 1 in NJ. 3 in VA. 2 in GA. And 7 in PA (all judges, retention and regular).

They won 12 of the 13 races by double-digits, with margins up to 24%.

The only other race, the tightest, they won by 6%.

Impressive, right?

 As usual you are running to the extremist edge of the cliff and claiming harm when he has not even served a day in office. I like the chances for the city more with this guy than the lying cheating thief Adams all day long and Sanders is a senator but to me he does more for his local voters than any other politician in office, the guy is dedicated and focused on what the local citizen needs and almost to a fault he champions for the common regular citizen.
