I am just stating that out of the 40% that don't vote. Some of them would most likely fall into the 47% entitlement class reducing the overall validity of the correlation.

Rick -- whether you realize it or not, what you are also saying is... that the number of democrats and/or non-voting individuals that happen to pay no taxes, that live in any of the 8 of the top 10 states that have individuals that do not pay taxes are democrats. And that this number of democrats and non tax paying individuals that just happen to live in the 8 of top 10 non-tax paying states somehow proportionally outweighs the number of democrats in largely democratic states that do not pay taxes.  

an alternative explanation to explain how the 8 of top 10 states that do not pay taxes and are overwhelmingly republican is that -- believe it or not many republicans also do not pay taxes.

Thats total bullshit Rick. 8 of the top 10 states are republican states, so it doesnt take a genius to realize that an awful lot of republicans arent paying taxes. You right wingers crack me up, even when the facts are against you, still cant admit your wrong.

I hear you. I try to be considerate and reasonable but I am more and more having a short fuse with an inability to reasonably see it for what it is.  

I sound like a broken record but I am all for having an educated disagreement but at some point enough is enough.

What percentage of the voting population is represented within the 47%. Are any of them independents? You guys get a couple data points and are jumping for joy over the implications without even a second thought.

I simply shared my real experience of the 47% romney voters...

I believe the election is about trying to win over the middle of the ground people/indepedent because there is such a strong anti-obama/anyone-but-obama sentiment that romney does not need to worry about losing the GOP 47ers%, they will vote that way no matter what...

so romney was simply playing politics at his fundraiser... lets not act like he was caught saying something that is not a part of his political script...  This is what he was saying to try to gain more support...

which might work when you are preaching to the choir... but maybe his class-warfare tactics are blowing up in his face among people who have genuine reaction to him...

liberals will be against him and try to jump on this...

conservatives will back his class-warfare 

both will look like fools in the process...

But this election is about getting people that voted for obama last time to vote for romney this time...   so the election will not be decided by the "cart before horse" partisan lemming crowds... 

I actually think that this class-warfare strategy by romney is a good one... as I believe that a larger percentage of the 47%ers would be effected by the comment at all... they will either vote/vote against/not vote as they would have regardless of if they hear about it or not...

and if 53%of people vote for romney and 47% obama... shouldnt romney end up winning? 

we pointed out the large group of government dependent GOPs that would vote romney...  

but what about the people in the 53% that do not require government assistance think about the whole class-warfare thing?

Why would any of the 53%ers vote obama?

This strategy should work...  in fact arent the polls saying that it is a dead heat?  Ive seen some threads on here talking about romney being in the lead...

Ever notice almost all people with political opinions always verbally "attacks" others who don't believe what they believe. Can't be good for the health eh? Seems like SMOKE AND MIRRORS in the media with all these different "views" to digest with no end game in sight as nothing ever seems to get resolved in these debates, coincidentally they never do in public posts either. Hmmm, seems fishy to me that people would try to raise/spend hundreds of million dollars to get a four year job worth $1.2 million.  Good luck .

I have no idea.  I do not have the data to come to any conclusions.  I was merely stating that the data points were not sufficient to run off the tracks with all sorts of conclusions etc.  

I live in WV, I know for a fact that there are people that are considered 47%ers that vote Republican,  I also know for a fact that many do not vote at all.

I do not think that Romney's #s were correct.  
I think it was an off the cuff remark, that shouldn't be taken too seriously. I do not think that you can say that every single person utilizing some form of welfare should automatically be lumped in as a voting block for democrats. 

What I agree with him about is that there is a group of voters (probably not 47%) that are dependent on the system, and they are grateful for the ability to be dependent on the system, and they will vote for the person that will perpetuate the system, and expand it.  Not someone that will reform the system, or make cuts of the system etc. 
Furthermore these people will gladly give their rights and keep their heads down when the leader that they see as a master makes transgressions, or over-reaches.  
These people will go along to get along.  
They should not be seen as any real viable voting block ,  they are lifelong Democrats,  they have no value in elections, and will vote Democrat at any cost. 

I do not know if they number as high as 47%, but whatever, it was not my comment, I am not going to defend it.  

Something that should also be taken into account are the many that are working poor, within the 47%. Many are aspirational,. Many probably have the desire to get out of the system. Many are probably not abusing the system, and truly need a hand up. 
 
I see no hypocrisy in these people voting Republican.

Yet, if someone is abusing the system and planning on being a life long member of the entitlement class, it would be hypocrisy for them to vote Republican.  Unless they are racists.  Then it just makes sense.

you are focusing on the number of people and not the amount of tax revenue... a large number of people that would contribute a small amount is less significant than a small amount of people that represent majority of the money...

With how you think, it is no wonder that the economy and debt is the way it is...  

lets just look at number of people as if they all made the same and contributed the same...  this all people being the same thing sounds like socialism/communism...  

how you think in viewing tax revenue in terms of number of people makes you sounds like a socialist/communist...
