Center for American Progress...and you criticized my source.
A few points...#1 I'm sure George Soros had to Ok that report and #2, Of coarse their evidence points to the only rationale solution as legalization...Keep 'em here, keep 'em voting democrat. Not really a shocker.
Immigration is a tough one for sure... I am against amnesty. I lean more towards deportation, but not against some avenue of legalization as long as they learn English, pay taxes, etc...over a period of say 5 years or so...
True, but I did point out I didn't love the source. And you notice it was an argument piece, not one that professed to use interesting facts.
But I think you are one of the brighter guys here, actually (for a rightie). And your secondary paragraph makes a lot of sense to me. But you understand that the five year period isn't a whole lot different from those who are already here and are in the holding pattern.

What is the brow plan?? Simply to criticize the ideas of others? Or to roll out the welcome mat for illegals from the entirety of the world? Why should we show preference to those crossing our southern border? Certainly we have military vessels we could use to chauffeur them in with.
Please give us a cost benefit analysis.

Imagine the money they will save when the taxpayers are paying for the legal costs associated with detention as well as the housing and transportation costs.
Massachusetts does seem to run in a constant surplus so no big deal.
did you ever read about masscare
they know how to find money....call the feds

I suppose you have emperical evidence that supports your assertion that somehow, money will be saved when we don't have any plan of action for deportation.
Please be sure to take into account the following:
1) legal costs;
2) housing costs;
3) costs of returning belongings;
4) transportation costs;
5) plan of action and costs for any children remaining in the U.S.;
6) plan of action and costs for any family remaining in the U.S.;
After you have made an estimation of the above costs, please compare them to any expenses that you have referenced above.
I look forward to your research and response.

On December 3, Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for
Legislative Affairs, Nelson Peacock, responding to request from several
U.S. Senators, including Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), wrote: “Our
conservative estimate suggests that ICE would require a budget of more
than $135 billion to apprehend, detain and remove the nation’s entire
illegal immigrant population.”
In July 2010, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)
released the results of a study which examined the costs of illegal
immigration at the federal, state and local levels. The study found that
U.S. state and local governments shell out $84.2 billion annually in
various services (law enforcement, schools, social services, etc.), with
California taxpayers alone, spending $21 billion on illegal aliens
every year.
So, while it would cost a one-time fee of about $135 billion to deport
every single illegal alien in the country, it is actually a bargain
considering the fact that it already costs us $113 billion annually to
keep them here.

$135 billion, huh? that's a joke because i'm sure it is probably a figure assuming our existing infrastructure could handle the job, which it can't come close to handling.
the "one time fee" part is even more of a joke. it makes this peacock person sound like an idiot. even if $135 billion to deport everyone (when they have no idea how many everyone is) is even in the ballpark, it's a complete waste of money without spending the ridiculous amount of money to secure our borders because most of them come back.
ice would take that $135 billion, waste most of it, deport several hundred thousand and most of them would be back within a year, esepcially now that the economy should be turning around that those business owners get back to hiring the cheap labor they got so addicted to.
ice is one of the biggest jokes of a government department we have, and that's saying something. they'll get right on locating and deporting those 15 million or so. none of you should hold your breath until it happens though.

Basically, we are talking about a mathematical formula, right. Someone,
somewhere should have concrete numbers to all the aforementioned
questions. It really shouldn't be that difficult to generate an average
per person cost to deport. Then you add in the variables.In fact, I bet
Lou Dobbs has the numbers.
I'm sure it will be expensive, but doing nothing is also We
have too many people in this country as it is.You can't govern this
many people effectively. Using history as a reference, it's
impossible.Immigration control is not only a security measure but a form
of population control as well. IMO, 2 bigger issues than the cost itself.I bet if you asked every member of this section if they would be willing to pay an extra 2% surcharge on their dinner bill at Applebees if it would go into a legitimately run deportation fund they would gladly accept and pay that tax. Start in Maine.Use that money to make Maine illegal free and the bill has been paid. Fortify and move on to the next state and evolve along the way. It's like playing a game of Risk. The game is rated for children of all ages.Get them all out and filter them back in legally.People will have to mow their own lawns. Furthermore, cheap labor stunts technology growth. People are lazy.If they had to mow their own lawn we would have remote control lawn mowers by now.

We're screwed when an effort to protect our laws is deemed controversial......
on another note, if you don't want car ins., you can choose not to drive, what are you supposed to do if you don't want health ins, choose not to live...........we're fucked, and I know a lot of people are happy about this.
A Hispanic activist recently said : (We'll be the next lawyers, doctors, and businessmen, replacing those old white men. That's extremely racist, but because a non-caucasian said it its ok.
This is gonna be a pretty fucked up world for the next generation. Good luck.....you brought this on yourselves.

Without illegals ICE wouldn't exist.

Actually, you (unwittingly) brought up an interesting point. Ilegals do contribute to their existence. They pay taxes and some even contribute to social security (which they never will receive).
Put them on a plane, huh?
What if the illegal status is an error? What about their family or people left here? What about their belongings?
Something tells me I already know your answer, herr Shane.
so its your contention that illegals pay more into the system than the value which they receive?????
im thoroughly confused by your comment about them paying taxes
im sure there is a process in place when someone gets sentenced to life in prison, to deal with their belongings.
as to their family, im not for deporting a parent and living a minor here in america, and i dont think many rationale ppl would be. but for the rest of their kin, who gives a fuck about them. they are in america ILLEGALLY. i wish the US had 1/2 of mexicos immigration policy.
im sure there is a process in place when the govt wrongly screws someone over, a wrongly deported can simply use those process(es). besides, if you are here legally, you have documentation, unless a govt agent willfully ignores that documentation, i cant see how there would be a common wrongly deported thread. sure its probably already happened, and probably due to some wierd circumstances, but, as evidenced by seemingly ever other law, they arent 100% fullproof, yet we live with them fine.
