Democrat James Walkinshaw will win a special election in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District, CNN’s Decision Desk projects, bolstering Democratic numbers in the House and cutting down on an already slim Republican majority.
Walkinshaw defeated Republican Stewart Whitson, a military veteran and former FBI special agent
With Tuesday’s Democrat win, House Speaker Mike Johnson will now only be able to afford to lose two Republicans on party-line votes as opposed to three.
In Virginia’s 11th Congressional District, Kamala Harris beat Donald Trump by 34 percentage points in the 2024 election, late Rep. Gerry Connolly won his reelection by that same margin. Wow, James Walkinshaw defeat his opponent Stewart Whitson by almost 50 points.
Virginia is going to have it's gubernatorial election just about two months from today. Let's see if Abigail Spanberger could win it in a landslide.
