Handicappers quantify their picks. Guessers post long-winded writeups peppered with the following phrases - "I think," "I see" and "I believe." On this board I see a lot of guessing and very little actual handicapping. I'll be back in January for the playoffs. Good luck everyone. C-70
If you don't know the answer to this question, then you are a guesser. Lots of work goes into handicapping and anybody that puts in that work knows what it takes to turn a profit.

That's not true. Updated data and lines are often out on Tuesday, folks start analyzing and they post accordingly. Often folks want to take advantage of the lines. If you use today's technology and your savy you have programs that can collect the data for you and thus shorten the length of time it takes to complete the entire process. Also, it can depend on what your collecting and how much your collecting and looking at.
Personally speaking I do a run thru on all the games by Thursday and typically don't play the game until day of game;however for some pools i'm in need to put in every pick by Thursday.
Definitely not a true statement.

This is very true. I know because I did give 65% winners. Very quietly

What exactly is the point here? Anyone figure it out? Could be OP's helping unsuspecting members sort thru things but it my guess is it's more of a flex pose. Take a bow

Sometimes what passes as analysis here is trite. Even pointing it out as lacking in substance would be giving it too much substance. (But here goes, anyway.)
Recent example:
"I think they're going to come out and play hard today because they don't want to get shut out."
Yeah, sure Captain F'ing Obvious, because most teams do want to get shut out.
And another gem from the Captain:
"I think they're going to be effective right from the start of the game because they're going to want to score first."
Yeah, sure. Because most teams want the other team to score first.
I get why stuff like that gets posted, because he's not really a handicapper, he just plays one on the internet. But when you see the replies from the sheeple thanking a guy for such "insights" it becomes clear why so many people have to tail someone and can't handicap their own games. And they need help.So if anyone's of a mind to help, they should. Altruism is a good thing, if that's their reason for posting.
Another example.
Guy gets caught cheating, posters call him out on it. He ignores them hoping they'll let it go and the thread will drop to page two or three. But they persist, bringing it up in his next new post, and he finally forced to give in and posts his standard lie reply, "It was an honest mistake."
Posters point out that ALL the mistakes only run one way - losses he leaves off or wins he padded his record with that he never gave out. So he purposely leaves a winner off the next record he gives, and follows up with another post and says, "See! The mistakes go both ways!" And he actually believes everyone here is too stupid to see he left it off purposely to deflect from his dishonesty. (saw it again today as a matter of fact.)
That's how it is with the guys that perpetually cheat on their lines and pathologically lie about their records. What they're really doing is calling posters stupid, they're saying "You're too dumb to see what I'm doing."
It's insulting to anyone with intelligence. Guys like that honestly believe they're smarter than everyone else. They're not. They're just insecure and crave attention.
I always wave back at the little Amazon guy. I feel like it's the courteous thing to do.

Another way to spot a guesser. They talk about something bad going on in their lives to help ease the fact they are not posting winners. Makes it easier to say you were distracted and didn't do your due diligence.
If you're distracted don't post. Handicapping requires lots and lots of attention. If something bad is going on in your life, stop betting. That's when you make bad decisions like chasing your losses. And only blowhards start threads like - "I'm not on this game."
