The trump-enabled death toll "is projected to reach 410,000 by January, if mask use wanes"
Model predicts over 400,000 Americans could die by January 1
More than 410,000 people in the US could die from the coronavirus by January 1, more than doubling the current death toll, a new model often cited by top health officials predicted Friday. That would mean 224,000 more lives lost in the US over the next four months.
Near-universal mask use could cut the number of projected additional fatalities by more than half, according to the model from the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. But it also warns the cumulative death toll could be much higher by the new year if *ALL* restrictions are eased. CNN

Trump inflames tensions and justifies violence Washington (CNN) For Donald Trump's America-on-fire campaign strategy to work, he needs violence to boil in cities right up until Election Day, or at least for enough voters to believe the nation is spiraling into an abyss of chaos and savagery. That brought the extraordinary spectacle Monday of a president -- who would by tradition call for calm at a time of civic unrest -- justifying violence by his supporters and all but excusing a pro-Trump vigilante who allegedly killed two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin. At the same time, in the White House briefing room, he minimized police brutality against African Americans that sparked a summer of protest and agony in the Black community as examples of officers who sometimes "choke."Trump's inflammatory behavior on Monday came on a day that could come to be seen as critical for the destiny of the White House after Democratic nominee Joe Biden launched a counterattack, warning no one was safe in "Trump's America" -- which he said was hobbled by disease and fear.
Trump, best President of my lifetime, maybe the best since wwii.

Research Scientist who run these models from the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) are covering their asses ..playing four ends toward the middle.
They use three projections IHME previously projected 317,697 deaths by Dec. 1..Now they are released four projections based on different assumptions:best-case scenario,a worst-case scenario, a best-case scenario and a most likely scenario.
The best-case scenario, which assumes universal masking, predicts that 288,380 people in the U.S. will die from Covid-19 in 2020.
The most likely scenario estimates that Covid-19 will kill 410,450 people in the U.S. by Jan. 1
Another one predicting 410,000 will die by 2020
...and yet another projects up to 620,028 people in the U.S will die by 2020...
Either way they are better predictions then from Dr. Neil M. Ferguson, a British epidemiologist who is regarded as one of the best disease modelers in the world, produced a sophisticated model at the beginning of this thing ...with a worst case of 2.2 million deaths in the United States..
I wish,I knew a bookie,,, that would give me that much of a range on my bets.........

Yes, but as the article notes, that is only projected that high *IF* mask use wanes (and other common sense guidelines)
trump and his accomplices are is still on track for being responsible for most of 250,000 dead Americans by December 1.

White supremacy is 'most lethal threat' to the US, DHS draft assessment says
Washington (CNN) White supremacists will remain the most "persistent and lethal threat" in the United States through 2021, according to Department of Homeland Security draft documents.
One of the report's "key take-aways" is that "Russia probably will be the primary covert foreign influence actor and purveyor of disinformation and misinformation in the Homeland." Moscow's primary aim is to undermine the US electoral process and weaken the United States. Some Kremlin-linked disinformation also might motivate acts of violence in the US, the draft report says.
Trump has regularly downplayed the threat of white supremacist violence during his presidency

Scientists outraged by WH appointees' meddling with coronavirus information: 'Outright egregious'
USA TODAY Scientists and physicians reacted with words such as “aghast,” “despicable” and “outrageous” over the weekend as news spread that White House appointees interfered with a basic national public health report when it conflicted with President Donald Trump's coronavirus messaging.
Michael Caputo, the Health and Human Services assistant secretary for public affairs, acknowledged Saturday that since June, he and an adviser have scrutinized and at times pushed for changes to a weekly health report distributed by the U.S. CDC.
The meddling, first reported by Politico, included efforts to stop the publication of a report last week on the use of hydroxychloroquine, a malaria drug often touted by Trump, delay a 10-state study of COVID-19 infection statistics in June and another on the spread of coronavirus at a Georgia sleep-away camp.

Caputo apologizes to staff for accusing government scientists of sedition
Excerpts
(CNN) HHS spokesman Michael Caputo on Tuesday apologized to staffers for a rant in which he accused career government scientists of "sedition" and working to undermine President Donald Trump, multiple sources familiar with the situation told CNN. Caputo -- a fierce defender of ( trump) who was appointed to his post as assistant secretary of public affairs for HHS not long after the coronavirus pandemic began -- mentioned a series of conspiracy theories in a Sunday live video on his personal Facebook page, including that there is a "resistance unit" against Trump inside the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Caputo claimed that he thinks former Vice President Joe Biden will refuse to concede the election should Trump win, and political violence will ensue.
A source familiar with the matter said Caputo portrayed himself as a victim in his apology.

Ladies and gentlemen, that's sedition. It's also ... you know, call it what you want, but when they let somebody get sick and die, there's one word for that," he said.
Undecided voter says she will choose Biden after Trump 'didn't answer' her health care question during town hall
Jeanine Santucci, USA TODAY
Ellesia Blaque, one of the undecided participants in an ABC News town hall with President Trump on Tuesday, said she will now vote for Democratic nominee Joe Biden after her question was not addressed by the president.
"He didn't answer my question," Blaque told CNN after the town hall, adding that Trump had "reanimated" her to vote in the presidential election, whereas before the town hall she was still undecided on whether she would vote at all.
Blaque asked Trump during the town hall about HOW he plans to protect those with pre-existing health conditions so that they can afford their health care and remain insured.
Trump told Blaque that his administration is "not going to hurt pre-existing conditions, and in fact, just the opposite." Then he went on to rail against Biden and Democrats' approach to health care, accusing them of wanting to remove protections for pre-existing conditions.

America's CEOs say Trump failed on coronavirus - - and they're backing Biden
President Donald Trump says he deserves an "A+" for his handling of the pandemic. Corporate America says he deserves a failing grade. Fifty-five percent of CEOs and other business leaders give Trump an "F" for his administration's response to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a poll conducted by the Yale School of Management. Another 12% say Trump deserves a "D." Just 6% of the attendees at Yale's Chief Executive Leadership Institute CEO Caucus award Trump an "A" for his handling of Covid-19.
A staggering 77% of business leaders polled by Yale say they plan to vote for Joe Biden over Trump in the November election. That's despite Biden's proposals to hike tax rates on both corporations and the high-income households. The findings suggest Trump's support from the business community is fraying after years of bitter partisanship.
