Think about this you’re the coach and it’s the Super Bowl. You’re up by 8 points and you were up by 25 just minutes earlier. You got 1st and 10 on your opponent’s 22 yard line. That’s a 40 yard field goal at most. 4 minutes and 40 seconds are left on the clock. Your opponents has 3 timeouts left so if you run the ball 3 times for even -3 total yards you’re still kicking a 42-43 yard field goal but now with only about 3 minutes left on the clock and your opponent having 2 timeouts left. But you probably won’t get -3 yards on 3 carries you’ll probably get at least 4-5 positive yards making your field goal about a 34-35 yarder.
So what do you do? You run a toss on 1st and 10. No coach does that. No coach runs a toss on 1st and 10 inside basically the red zone with the game on the line and a field goal sealing the deal. In the SUPER BOWL. That’s a high risk play. 1 yard loss. No big deal clock’s running let’s just run another running play. Nope we’re passing it. K fine if you insist. Then just run a quick slant or a quick hitch, swing… something quick because the defense is not expecting run. Actually no the defense comes out and has everyone in coverage! Because that makes total sense. As if they know what the next play call is. SACK.
Ok we f*caked up and now it’s 3rd and 23. NOW we run a quick out and get some yards to get a more manageable field goal. Hit! Look how many times a commentator mentions a stat right before it gets jinxed and people believe this a real game. Once would be a coincidence, numerous times becomes by design. The entire game is a sham. It's hard for people to change their mind when this is the equivalent of Saturday morning cartoons for children. That's the reality of it.
