You guys are looking through police glass trying to understand everything..its just not plausible to see everything and relate.
I dont blame you, no hard feelings but there is plenty of things that have happened to make the decision to go this route and most of them are due to knives in the back to be honest.

You are mistaken about aaaa1, follow the rules and act reasonable and he is EASY to get along with, he is a top notch guy and does more for the site than anyone here could ever know.

You got ripped then. I bought mine Friday morning from Sears for 999+ tax, and went to pick it up Monday, and they had it for $899. Guy took the extra $100 off, gave me the $10 for the price match, and then saved 7+ in tax...
So I guess I paid $949 when its all said and done...
The TV is awesome, and make sure you have your settings turned down for the first 100 hours.

I dont know about getting ripped, the set will be delivered here, I didnt have to spend two hours looking and wading through lines like you did, plus it is out of stock in my zip code..
So I am pretty much SOL even if I wanted the deal..it cannot be had from the store that I would purchase and shipping out of the area would make it a net negative.
You can go wait in line and scramble for 50 bucks, but it would have been a waste of time since they didnt have it available here.
I did buy a water heater from Sears last month, saved me about 500 bucks from going to HD to purchase.

I'm an instant person. I thought I was walking out of that damn store with a TV in the back of my truck, at 5:30 AM... Assholes didn't even have it in stock, hence me picking it up Monday.
Had I known that, I could have ordered it from home Thursday afternoon, while eating leftovers, as it was already on sale online...

besides, the economy is so bad, I was in line for about 10 min... People were only there to buy a shitty $99 GPS, and hardly anything else.

You bought the dumbed down 400 model. We have the 450.
Yours has a 15,000:1 ratio.... Ours has a 30,000:1
Yours also lacks the side inputs.
The 400 was a model they cheapened up the production cost on, and just made them available in the beginning of November, just for the holiday season. It hasn't been battle tested, and I didn't want to get stuck with some lemon.
Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I just felt more comfortable spending the extra $100 to get the model that has been around for a while, and wasn't something they glued together to give stores like best buy, wal-mart, and circuit city something to get people in the doors with.

I don't pay attention to model numbers... more with brands and such. I like the Samsung. I also I know I like plasma over LCD. Don't care to argue about it - I just like it more.
Mine is 42" with side inputs - so I guess mine is the battle tested one? I also know its 720p as opposed to 1080i and I dare anybody to notice a difference (especially on a 42" model). I don't doubt there may be a difference on the 65" model.
I love it and it works great - and thats all that matters to me. Look forward to buying another one soon when I move into a new house. I'm a HD freak now.

I have no clue either.
I thought LONG AND HARD about getting the cheaper one, just because I know that it'll end up in the bed room in a few years, and I'll buy something much larger if/when we ever buy a house somewhere.
But I just didn't want to risk anything, especially since this 400 model is only a month old. Samsung didn't even have literature out on it until 2 weeks ago, I believe.
Are you planning on getting an extended warranty?

I've just had so many problems with the 61" RCA DLP I have, I just can't fathom going thought that again.
I mean I guess I was just really pissed because I bought that TV for $2600 5 years ago, but with TVs getting better in terms of reliability, and stuff, I just don't know.
But you're right, for a dime, whats the point in spending at least $200 to protect it, when we'll probably be able to buy a new one in 3 years for under $500.....

I always consider the protection added to a sale to be a BAD DEAL. It's just another way for them to convince you to part with more of your cash. I never get it for anything and never will. I have bought several households worth of appliances and electronics over the last 20 years and have never regretted not having it.
SELF INSURED is a very good way to go. Pay cash and be smart. Once in a while you get bit, but you are ahead in the longer run. I don't even pay for collision on my car insurance - just the liability. My insurance agent thinks I'm nuts, but after decades of not paying that premium I think I could total a few cars, pay out of pocket and still be ahead. I'm not risk adverse - thus I like to gamble my money on sports when others think that is nuts.

i paid $900 for my HD receiver a couple of years ago when it was first available to Dish Customers, now they give them to you for free 
Plasma screens don't work very well for those of us at altitude, we need to go the LCD route
i have the 60" in the family room and it is only 480 and i can definately tell the difference from the 1080 in the other rooms. it still works great, but it is a huge box. i can't wait for it to die so i can put a flatscreen on the wall

Paulsy you need help son...
First of all the other 98% of us THANK YOU first adopters for buying the new technology at a huge inflated price, and helping to work the bugs out so we can buy a better product at a much more reasonable price
I cannot day definitively, but for the most part the issues with plasma a few years ago have all been corrected. I don't know for sure but I would be that plasma works just fine at altitudes - although it does sound like a nice pursuasive technique to get folks to buy LCD (the fear mongering). Like I said I could be wrong on this.
Lastly, the "hanging it on the wall" thing is sooooo overrated. Sure it looks good on TV commercials. Trust me you do NOT want to do that. Buy a nice flatscreen, spring for a nice stand with storage area for stuff (satellite box, dvd player, stereo or wateva). Hanging on the wall is just ridiculous when you consider you have to plumb the wiring, and still need space for the other stuff... and you have no versitility to move it if you want, etc etc.
