Jeff - I am digging the crazy. Keep it up, man. I do think that pro sports in general are fixed. I may be looking at it through the eyes of someone who has donated money through losing, but too much suspect stuff happens to not question what is going on. From the subtlety of an absurd seemingly meaningless call by a referee to the glaring over the top mayhem that occurred in Pittsburgh last weekend, there is something fishy happening. I like your post. It is making glaring sense to me. I will check up on you as often as I can. Thanks for 9 nine years of following something and being willing to pass it on if you see glaring patterns.

So you all can tell us what games were fixed after they are played? That does nothing for me. Why don't you put your fixed theory to work and pick us some winners for Thursday NFL?

I'll do it for him. Barry Sanders is going to come running out of the tunnel in his Lions gear and run for 6 touchdowns against the Titans. Turns out the NFL and Vegas really need the Lions to cover so they get together and sign him for 1 game and a 2 milion dollar paycheck.

The fix is the dumbest topic ever.

    Jeff,

Dont  you  think  the  NFL has a huge  motivation to not  allow anyone "fixing"  anything.  The  risk  of  getting  caught, (remember,  it  takes a village  to conspire)  would
kill the goose who  is  laying  golden eggs almost  everyday  of the  week.

I must of been on the right side of the fix yesturday then, so when people hit at 53% of their picks how is there a fix...

I was 6-0 yesturday and 8-7 in college, law of averages at work not FIX...

I feel like sometimes the fix may be in just the way the ball bounces, but overall cannot see a whole team being in on it.

I may have been going about this all wrong.  with technical analysis injury reports, past meetings weather forcasts, news reports, etc.

i am going to feel like a moron, if All it takes is fading ESPN pregame to pick a winner.  I will test this theory.

I'm not siding with or against JeffSmith.  I think the topic is intriguing and has some merit.  I think that he does make statements that have truth to them.  Perhaps the way he says it rubs people the wrong way - JeffSmith, at times you seem somewhat condescending to people, but I don't get the feeling you much care about winning people over.

With that being said, the reason I quoted you, LetsGoHORNS, is that you are completely wrong in assuming that he is using multiple ID's based on what you think you are pointing out.  If you'll look closely, JeffSmith said all of what is in Paulwynn's post except for the last sentence in Paulwynn's post just 2 posts above his.  Clearly Paulwynn quoted JeffSmith and made an error in doing so.  Not rocket science to figure that out, but it seems that several people have become emotional about it and just want to call him out rather than have an intelligent conversation.

Like someone else said, why be afraid of an opinion?

    I'd like to hear more.

I feel like sometimes the fix may be in just the way the ball bounces, but overall cannot see a whole team being in on it.

I don't believe he said a whole team is in on it, in fact he said the opposite.  I believe if you aren't paying attention, law of averages will show through.  If you take the time to really look, perhaps the averages will weigh in your favour.  Not 100% of the time, but if it were 70% or more in your favour, wouldn't you be happy?

Unfortunately many of us are gambling degenerates and just want the action and bet piles of games.  Hell, I agree with JeffSmith and I have still put action on some games I know nothing about.  It's just plain stupid, but I get a jolt out of it.  So do many of you out there.  Yesterday alone I had over 25 bets between football, basketball and hockey.  There's no way I could actually cap that many games and expect to win over the long term.  If I were smart, I'd listen more about what is being said here and bet fewer games with more confidence and be in better shape.  By the way, I went something like 15 - 12 on my bets and made a little bit, but I also had lots of fun.  But at best, I'm probably 50% so I lose vig.  Oh well, small price to pay for the fun.

Off topic now, but I think you get what I'm saying, or maybe not.  Either way, I would like to hear more of what JeffSmith says and what many others say and perhaps I will learn something.

had to reply to such an article. First i fully agree somewhere in the food chain from referee to owner to silent partners there is something shady about the whole thing. I agree anything thats a billion dollar business employes and feeds alot of people. Therefore there has got to be people  protecting there assests at great costs and one of the costs is gambling. People that dont agree with these theories always rag people out to bring up a viable arguement, hell its a great arguement. Every sport is built on inches, centimetres even smaller dimensions and all these haters will admit that so why is that if one play to influence a game then who is incharge of that one play think about it for a second. With part of america in retarded mode where attention span is well non existent even if there was a conterversy oh yeah you remember that basketball thing which they pinned on one guy dude that guy was like the jfk shooter confused on what he really did cuase guys like david stern were barrying him along with his pals in the media. Nobody else went down and basketball goes on. Think for two minutes not one and maybe a minute more and realize that sports is a drug pusher and gambling is the hook its a thing of beauty and the elite class has figured this out. have a good day and let the haters now begin

I don't get the bashers, frankly.  Mostly guys who can't string an argument together to save their lives.

What ever happened to calm, collected discourse?

Because he works for the books.  Anytime anyone posts anything like this, or picks consistent winners, they get banned because of pussies like him.  That's why these forums are filled with "10-0 for the day" claims but most don't have shit to back it up.

Just look, he has almost 17,000 posts!  This guy loves to tell people they are wrong!

That being said, so long JeffSmith70!!!  So long to me too!

Instant replay is in question as well in my opinion.  We all seen instant replay mistakes.  im kinda rambling on now but let me tell you something off subject but worth telling.
Maybe about 5 years ago in vegas, partied the nite b4 but nonetheless got great sleep so friends and i could check out Hard Rock's daytime poolside club called 'Rehab Sunday".  So im at one of the blackjack tables and figured i 'd play a couple hands b4 going to the pool.  Im sitting all the way right seat( im 1st to get dealt) and im playing multideck blackjack out the shoe with a female dealer with long nails.  The whole time there the shoe was making weird "clicking noises" and the dealer is trying to blend her "nail tapping" agianst the back of the shoe.  Out of the corner  of my eye "I SAW CARDS SLIDE OVER THE TOP CARD IN THE SHOE!!"  We all needed cards and we all busted.  OK.....Now when i saw this happening  , the dealer noticed me see it and she basically got so nervous and scared( I COULD SEE IT ON HER EXPOSED FACE)  she was probably wondering when i was going to explode with anger or something yelling out " This shit is fixed!" or something.  But i didn't.  Maybe becuz i was so shocked and surprised to see this,  i was speechless or i also thought of me being an out-of-towner maybe i should just keep shut.  But just the expression on her face seriusly said it all.  Believe it or not? I do. Never played those card games again.  Take it for what its worth people.
Ok now getting back to the 'fix' .  i do think its true and very mafia influenced.  pittburgh i hear is percieved this way.   vegas was made from mafia money.  and sometimes playing away from the public is good bet sometimes but only certain games.  I've seen games go so smooth, bearly any calls and then again sometimes flag after flag.
Its weird sometimes though cuz when your money is on the line, and the ref makes a shitty call, but it benefits you, i'll take it everytime.
but yea the refs do it in a way where no one can really say its true. a little here and a little there.  or how about those meaningless tds to fo ver a total or a callback td to keep it under.  or the last pitt game and then apoligized after?
what kinda shit is that?  So to make the pitt mafia clan, happy pitt wins and covers.  its fishy.
    just my 2 cents.
I HATE TO RUIN IT FOR THE TRUE FANS, BUT I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THIS GARBAGE FOR YEARS BOOKIES, TV RATINGS .  ITS  ALL ABOUT THE MONEY, I  MYSELF, LIKE JEFF CAN TELL YOU ABOUT GAMES THAT I KNOW WERE FIXED.  YEARS AGO I BET ON A GAME AND AFTER THE GAME I SAID JOE GIBBS WAS GOING TO RETIRE AND PUT ALL OF HIS MONEY INTO STOCK CAR RACING AND HE DID .  ANOTHER FOOL IS AL DAVIS LOOK AT ALL THE TALENT THAT MAN HAS RUINED.

OK I've read this rediculously long thread with one Question: Jeff Smith, there's a flaw to your logic.  I don't mean, 'take the opposite of public opinion, and bet' yes that works some, but not consistantly.
How is it that your system didn't work when TN was 9-0, or 8-0, or 7-0, or 6-0, or 5-0, or 4-0?  There was plenty of hype then.  I follow sports closely, and you are right only to the extent that they finally lost a game.  I agree with the other guy (too far up to look)  The Rams were invincible, and covered EVERY GAME that majical year - 15-0  ATS.  I jumped on them at 13 or 14, lol.
The point I'm making is you have no way of determining when a cycle is to be broken.
Don't know if you're looking for some twisted type of validation, but the name of this site is COVERS, which means it's a gambling website....you're here only because you gamble in some capacity.  That's the only way you would have even heard of this site.
The reason you're meeting so many "haters" is because on some level you're lying, and we're not ignorant.

what i'm saying is this, all of his babble about refs and qb's and the media hype could be lumped into what people get into arguments about on this site all day and night.  The Public play.  If u've done any amount of gambling you know if it looks, smells and acts like a sure thing, obviously take a better look at it.  now this guy picks the jets, saying that the public perception is that this is a sure thing for tenn.  1st off, i have issue with that.  $ was not all over tenn and i sure as hell took one look at the 5.5 and took the points before the line went down.  even the consenus here at covers had the jets 56-44 and im not saying covers is the final word on consensus by a FAR stretch.  then after his public win of the jets, he says he will pick the sun niter and mon niter.  then comes back and says sd or no will cover and probably both.  i dont know bout u guys but my bookie doesnt take OR bets.  so hes wrong on sd and after saying "i will  go ahead to give another winner as well as to the monday game"  he comes back and says it was sd or no(comical) so hes still 1-0 cause it was sd or no.  so for all the jibberjab, mumbo jumbo hes a long winded 1-0 in his mind, a 1-1 by my estimation and we have the glorious NO pick. all of this bringing up numerous games Iowa/isu 97' and the 94 superbowl that fit his criteria for a fixed game is hilarious.  i was at the UNLV/ Wisconsin game when somebody turned off the lights with 7min togo, 2 min before it became official.  hell yeah somebody got paid to do that, no fukin doubt about it, none.  just dont make all this shit seem like youn know something everybody here doesnt.  ur laughable and full of shit.  and reballas gfu.
