This prevailing attitude (in Australia at least) that we'll get the Ashes back this summer just because we're at home is amusing to say the least.
What's changed for the better since winter ? We're still laden with mediocre batsmen and our sole world class player (Clarke) is now a day to day proposition because of his back (and is sure to be an even bigger target for his weakness - the short ball, as a result) And these fast bowler-friendly wickets that are being talked about do eventuate, how is that order of ours going score any more heavily than it did in ENgland ?
As far as our bowling goes, well who the hell is fit ? Pattinson, Starc and Bird haven't been seen since the last Ashes series and the perma-injured Pat Cummins is also a write off.
So our hopes rest with Ryan Harris, who while outstanding, is a longshot to go the distance in a five test series, Peter Siddle and probably Mitchell Johnson.
The latter has looked outstanding recently but carries a tonne of mental scars from previous battles with England (and the barmy army).
Meantime, England's coming back the same group that won 3-zip a couple of months ago

The difference between the teams last series was Ian Bell. apart from the odd score from Root, the rest of the poms did f##ck all.I am not so sure if Aus have the best preparation. Everyone is nibbling on George Baileys nuts because of what he just did in India. Those wickets were a joke and the Indian attack is also nothing like the poms attack.
David Warner hit 3 hundreds in the Ryobi cup all on a ground that is smaller than the average backyard in Sydney on a pitch that is a highway.
It will be closer, but England should win the series.

It was a bit more than just Ian Bell, England won all the big moments in the series. Every time we had them on the ropes with bat or ball, they'd get a match turning partnership or a quick burst of wickets.
Can't see how or where we've turned things around enough since winter to get even close to winning this series. England is beatable and would be dog meat against the great Australian sides of yesteryear.. But this is anything but the great Australian side of yesteryear

Great win by the Aussies but we really need to ditch the trash talk for the time being. Graeme Swann, Ian Bell and Trott are all proven world class performers and capable of ripping our hearts out on any given day. Our media and some of our players seem to think that a couple of bad days in Brisbane for these guys has cast the dye for their entire ashes series.
