I am very new to AFL but was wondering about the following. I know in sports like NFL and NBA a major injury can mean the spreads to fluctulate massively. However, in Aussie Rules how much difference would a star goal kicker move the spread if prior to kick off he had to pull out?
Looking at doing some reseaarch on this as I would think the TAB sportsbooks would more quickly than other coutries and can therefore get an edge.
TV Coverage is starting to pickup in the UK so just looking into this.
any help would be great.
thanks,

I don't think you will get much of an edge on this, lines don't usually come out until wednesday anyway and we usually know long before then if a star player will be out, if there is major doubt often the line on that game will not be released. That being said, a star being out is generally not as big in an AFL game as it would be in basketball, also the result of a match rarely lands even close to the line so there isn't that much point hoping for a few points edge at another book, of course still worth looking for best lines but don't expect a great edge with your ideas.
